Spacers...

SO...spacers are on the car and have brought the wheels out the perfect amount in my own opinion, I took a few snaps for you to judge!

The after picture was taken immediately after the car came off the trolley jack, I should of waited a few minutes till the car settled back on the springs, will take a side on picture tomorrow, loads better anywho.

I have decided not to touch the fronts, going to stick with the staggered look.

After much umming and ahhing, trying to decide what brand & size without going overboard on price, and generally being indecisive, I am about to order these. I would have loved Eibach spacers, but they are a touch too pricey for now. Bimecc seem to be a popular / recommended brand, and the kits come with 16 extended bolts and 4 extended locking bolts - seemed a reasonable price including the latter. I also like that they are 'wheel coloured', if that makes sense.

Personally I didn't like the idea of bolting something onto the hub then bolting the wheel onto that - I prefer knowing that the bolts go all the way to the hub. All in my head, but I do have to live with my head after all

I shall keep you all informed, of course

UPDATE to the above - the set above was 'created' in response to a query I sent to the seller because I couldn't see the sizes & bits I wanted. He's going to leave the ad up until after the weekend if anyone else is interested

Ive just fitted 20's to the rear of mine and they fit perfectly, although when you lower the car after fitting, they look like they stick out by half an inch, so drive the car a couple of metres forward and back to allow the wheels to return to the correct position.

those ebay ones above look like a great deal, a guy on Bimmer forums is doing the same deal

I fitted 20mm Eibachs on the rears, but ill just get some 12 or 15mm Bimmecs for the front

Craigza....car looks great!

Im about to go for 15mm fronts & 20mm backs (probably the deal Bing has arranged....thanks for that by the way). Although having seen your they dont look too wide. Do you think it'll cause you an issue with the MOT? cant tell entirely from pics if they come out past the arches. Also is you car on eibach' or Msport springs?

Cheers

You're very welcome - I didn't exactly arrange it, more asked for a custom package deal for me, but it is cool that he's keeping it available (I hope) as having had a look around it's a competitive deal if you include all the bits.

I'm fitting my Eibach springs next month, hopefully they will be fine with the spacers. If not then my backup plan is to shift the 15mm spacers to the back and get 12s for the front.

I'm curious to see the result with the car drop, your wheels might rub the wheelcase as they seem to stand out just a little.
I hope that it's not the case of course :)

Fitting springs to mine tomorrow so will pop up pics showing if the spacers still fit! Should do... Hope so anyways! :D

Not fitted mine yet - they arrive tomorrow... So I think you're talking about someone else's pics ? I'll put pics up on Saturday if i get them done, in the meantime LukeMace should get to where I am going first, so I will be able to see how his do with the same size spacers. His will drop 30mm or so ; mine will only go about 15mm as I already have Sport springs on.

Quite excited as all my mods so far have been pretty much cosmetic, whereas these two should change the look of the car noticeably, not to mention the handling as a result of the spring change :D

Oops, mix-up

Rears done!

Gave it a wee noon to get them to bed in a little. Bumpy Industrial estate... No rubbing with 20mm rear spacers.
Was a 20 min job to do the rears.

Luke, they do look great, cant wait for my Eibach' to turn up (today???? :headbang: )

Now you've got them on do you think you couldve got away with 25mm spacers? Im torn between 20's & 25's.

cheers

LukeMace, I had my doubts about such a big drop combined with spacers, I was expecting your wheels to stick out and look a bit odd, I was so wrong, they look fantastic, well done.

Quite fancy doing this.
On my Z4MR I would go 12/15mm front 18/20mm rears on standard wheels/suspension.
Don't need a wheel alignment afterwards?
Looking at options I notice that steel adaptors seem heavy and so you're adding weight to wheels?
There are aluminium ones available with longer bolts to bolt right through adaptor, these will weigh a lot less and seem to be a similar price (£46.00 a pair)?

Any thoughts? :)

sammyz, the Bimecc ones linked in my post on the page before this are apparently ''lightweight aluminium" and the offer should still be available for two 15mm, two 20mm, 8 extended bolts and 4 locking bolts.

They will,be arriving in the next hour according to the email I got earlier, so I shall weigh them for comparison with Luke's steel ones

Has any one thought about or looked into any possible concerns with exta loading on the wheel bearings when fitting spacers

Just received mine - man, are they are a bundle of sexy shiny silvery loveliness

In the box, including packaging and bolts all four weigh 5.7kg. Out of the box and packaging, spacers on their own, they weigh 3.2kg

Pics of them off the car later, got to get back to work...

chris6, hadn't even crossed my mind to be honest... never been mentioned in anything I have read on here concerning spacers :?
