Spacers...

I've noticed some rubbing on the front of mine, both sides in the same space with my 12mm spacers, spotted it whilst giving it a clean. Mine on standard sport suspension.

Jan - where do you see evidence of the rubbing ?

Just behind the reflectors on the facelift bumper

I assume it happens when pressing on through the country lanes :driving: , you know how bad some of then are around here,

Yeah, they are pants... Wonder what will happen with mine :? Will keep an eye on them...

Also, definitely looks like I got the wrong rivets

I mounted spacers last monday, 155mm at the back and 12mm at the front... But I was supplied with the wrong bolts for the front spacers, they were too big and I was stupif enough not to notice (even though I needed a bigger wrench) :headbang:

Result: at least 1 wheel hub to be replaced as I completely messed up the threads on 1 hole... :x Cost is almost 300 € including work and VAT

It will be repaired tomorrow and then order some new bolts via my Stealer (just to make sure I get the right ones) :|

Anyway, will post pics when spacers are PROPERLY installed... :)

Ooooooo - expensive lesson

I have experienced some rubbing with my 15mm spacers on the front and sports suspension. Strangely, only on the driver's side. Not sure what conclusion to draw - missing a trim rivet, so perhaps it's looser than the passenger side and more prone to rubbing... Or perhaps my lardy ass is just pushing it lower on that side :D

Not sure about the Eibachs now, but probably going to give them a go anyway, because I already have them and it would be rude not too

Yes, painfull... Now I will have to wait for buying and placing my Eibachs too :x

But on the positive side: I had my Angel Eyes delivered last week... They look absolutely great! :o

This doesnt sound good, Ive already sourced 20mm & 15mm along with Eibach' springs for my 04 3.0 SE.

Having them all fitted the weekend after next. Am i going to need to get 12 mm for the front instead? Anyone got this exact set up?

I installed the 15mm spacers on the rear over the weekend. Looks like they should rub to me - but I have not seen any rubbing yet. I haven't pushed it hard enough to full suspension compression - so time will tell.
Can't see how 20mm on the rear would not cause a problem - although others have used 20mm without issue.
For now, I will leave front untouched, but I wouldn't go more than 10mm.

My rears are fine, no issues and they are 20. Eibachs may actually help, thinking aout it, as they are progressive... Which I am guessing means that when driving hard the springs will not compress as far as they normally do... Or am I talking 2 beers sh1te ?

I think progressive means that the further they compress, the more they resist compressing - so the first few mm of travel are "soft" and will suck up the bumps, but as you get further into the compression, the ride gets stiffer. I think many motorcycle suspensions (front and rear) are set up this way.
Still I'm interested to see what happens when I find a few speed bumps.

That's what I was trying to say

So the Eibachs may be better even though they are lower, as I get no rubbing at all when turning the wheels at rest, or over the last few days with limited hooning (ergo less bumps and demands on the suspension).

Jeez, I am going all Andysat about this. Need to give myself a slap :headbang:

Bought some 15mm spacers and just fitted them! Encountered two problems:
1. The bolts supplied were too long by 3mm and when fitted fouled the brake disc guard as these passed right through the hub. I had two cut the 3mm off.
2. On the drive home the wheels were rubbing the plastic inner guard shield on every bump or when cornering! Bummer will have to have a look and see what I can do? Or if anyone has encountered similar?

I have fitted 18" MV 2, 20mm spacers on rear and lowered the suspension using Fk springs.

You got these springs? http://www.carparts-tuning.co.uk/en/Suspension-Tuning/Lowering-Springs/Lowering-springs-High-Tec-fit-for-BMW-Z4-Z85.html

If so, same as mine. 18" you should be fine. If you are getting a little rub on the fronts (I did when on 18's too) get a heat gun and simply reshape the front liner a little where it is rubbing. Takes 20-30 mins to do both sides and your sorted
If its still rubbing up front try to mount your front liner in front of the bumper lip in stead of on the outside. It will push the whole liner forward slightly and give you an extra few mm

Cheers Luke,
Yes they are the same springs but will give your tips a a go and keep you informed.

Hmm.. This is a mod I fancy doing. Tho I am someone whose car working on experience consists of changing a wheel when I have a flat lol!

I have MV2's on my sport, and was considering 15mm and 20mm.

Any Thoughts?
As I'm a bit lower anyway.. :)

:D the nice thing about fitting spacers is that it's a case if simply taking the wheel off, putting on the spacer, then putting the wheel back on again! :yeah: simples! 15 on front and 20s on back should work nicely. That's what most on this thread have opted for and works well.

I have 1" rear and 15mm fronts on 108s, no rubbing ect and PERRRRFECT stance....

I failed to read the entire thread so apologies in advanced if this has already been settled lol.
