Spacers...

Wouldn't have thought there would be a much extra load on the wheel bearings as the spacers are secured to the hub so any additional stress would transmit through that.

Cheers Bing will have a look at ordering a set.

Gotta love the look of wheel properly filling the arches. Those spacers really do look the nuts. Something to add to my list too!!! :D

Can't put mine on yet - steering wheel bits not finished till tomorrow lunch time, battery disconnected and wheel in bits. In the garage :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Rears done!

Gave it a wee noon to get them to bed in a little. Bumpy Industrial estate... No rubbing with 20mm rear spacers.
Was a 20 min job to do the rears.

Still waiting for spring compressors to arrive then I will attack the fronts

Looks like a perfect fit!

Here are mine, all gleaming and lovely :

Only weird thing is the 15s being shiny and the 20s being matt... However that won't last and you will hardly see them.

£129 delivered - total bargain.

MacGuard locking wheel bolts = £30 approx

16 wheel bolts = £20 approx ?

Which means the Bimmecc spacers were £80 for the set.

Well chuffed, fit tomorrow :D

Allan, thats a very good price

Can I ask what are the length of the two bolts supplied? I have some looking wheel nuts left over and just wondering if there long enough for 15/20mm spacers

Cheers Jan

Now you've got them on do you think you couldve got away with 25mm spacers? Im torn between 20's & 25's.

cheers

TBH I think I would stay with the 20mm. They look a perfect fit and any more is just pushing it I think.

LukeMace, I had my doubts about such a big drop combined with spacers, I was expecting your wheels to stick out and look a bit odd, I was so wrong, they look fantastic, well done.

I wasn't quite sure either! Was worth a punt and I think it paid off!

Couple of pics...

Jan, I have no idea how to measure bolts properly but I have just done a Bing Bodge Measure and the length from the very top of the thread to the end of the bolt on each are :

15mm spacer - 36mm thread
20mm spacer - 42mm thread

The MacGuard locking bolts are the same lengths - two of each. Which I think really is custom because I am not sure you can get a set of different lengths ? Maybe you can, haven't checked

The bundle deal I got is still available - just checked that. Link on page 6 of this thread

LukeMace - your car is looking lovely mate :D

I benefitted from watching you and everyone else's posts while I dithered to be honest, and the bundle deal was pretty much accidental

The fronts will look ace as I had new discs recently and the hubs are still very clean... I am however worried that the rears will stand out against my rusty hubs, my OCD will kick in, and I will spend the afternoon with a wire brush, Brillo pads and autosol

Not a chance - black front grills, clear side repeaters and extensive research into de-tango of your headlights

My life will be a mod wasteland after getting my Eibachs on though... Guess I can relax and enjoy the car for a while. I'll be skint again by then anyway

I will be taking the wheels of again next week to do the calipers and also give the hubs a good shining. Think it will only do it good... And keep any OCD tendencies happy!

True! But I can kid myself for at least a week that all is done! I will ignore that I have ordered a front grill for the car too. Cos each time I think about it I ask myself... Why not change it for a facelift one... Same with rear... Then I start to look for aero skirts which moves me to the side repeaters then naturally de tango the whole thing, which if/when I get round to doing I would wonder why I didn't refurb my wheels earlier on in the process... Endless battle!!

Bing, I am surprised that you have not been up already to fit your new super duper shiny spacers and treated us to a pic or two, by how excited you were yesterday to get your hands on them!! :D

That was the plan... However my steering wheel is in bits and the battery disconnected as spraying all the worn MFSW trim bits matte black has taken my guy longer than planned. Can't get the fecking car out the garage :headbang:

Should have the bits back by lunchtime, so I'll be on it the afternoon

Thanks, my left over locking bolts have a 36mm tread so I'm going for 15mm for the rears

jan_tekin, does the thread on your locking bolt go right to the flange at the top ? I just realised you were talking about the locking ones and I measured the normal bolts... Told you it was a Bodge :D .On my locking bolts the thread stops short of the top - shouldn't make a difference, as it is the length of the bolt that counts.

I have also just realised that my locking bolts have been machined to be the right length by the guy that sold me them - I am even more impressed by the service now.

Same as mine just short of the top, they were supplied with some 12mm spacers so I'm sure they will be fine for 15s

Marf83, Just seen your repsonse sorry!

Picture was taken as soon as the car came off the jack and hadn't settled back down on the springs 100%....

I can confirm it will pass MOT no problem, if you want any specific pictures let me know! I'm lowered on H&R's also which are lower than the eibachs I believe.

Hey Craigza,

no problem, car looks great. Would love to see a shot of it from a bit further back so you can see the whole car & both of the arches. Do you think 25mm at the back would fit ok, ive read a few threads about putting 25mm' on, but no pics.

Much appreciated

Marf
