Z4 boot open button on remote

Hi,

A few times, the boot on our Z4 has been unlocked/slightly open because we have pushed by accident (maybe while keys are in pocket) the boot open button.

Do you know if anything can be setup on the car to avoid this? I.E. so the button needs to be pressed twice quickly for it to unlock the boot?

On my coupe, I have to press and hold the open button for a few seconds to get the hatch to open. Guess yours is more sensitive.

(man, that Cobra makes me drool every time I see it. <sigh>)

My open boot button only works when the cars unlocked. If the cars locked the button on the remote will not unlock the boot. I think the dealer needs to set it up

Yes there are two options available via delaer programming

1. Boot wont unlock until car has been unlocked

2. Boot unlocked without unlocking car.

Not thread related, but loving your other motor.... If its an 06 is it a Replica? I was very tempted to get one before i went fore the Z4! I also looked at the James Dean style Porsche but to get a new one built wasn't cheap.

Plus i think there is a change between pre and post facelift

Post facelift you have to keep your button pressed for a few seconds until the boot unlocks
Doesnt appear to be true pre-facelift

I only have one key so i'm ultra paranoid about unlocking the boot via the key (with the car still locked) and closing the boot with my key inside!

I nearly did it on the day I got it! :|

That Cobra is sweet! If you buy a set of plates from 'Craftyplates.co.uk' you could have it spaced to look mint! AC 06BRA (not that it doesn't already) the discount code VX2201 will also give a few quid off  . For show purposes only of course  they also do the old style metal pressed plates :)

Nah, I don't fancy a mis-spaced number plate. The last thing I want is the hassle of being pulled over by some 24 year old "jobs worth" jealous copper because my Cobra has a mis-spaced number plate!

I'm going to call in to my nearest BMW dealer next week and see what they can set up on the car for me, hopefully set the boot lock to only work when the car itself is unlocked.

Yep, very nice Cobra :)

Love these after that "A car is born" programme... would love to build one up one day!

I want to change my boot unlock to the car unlocked mode, since I've just checked out the window before to see the boot up a touch, so it's clearly been pressed. Not the best function if you are a keys in pocket person.

So.... BMW decide to make my Z4 beep at me when my shopping from the spar shop thats on the passenger seat isn't wearing its seatbelt!

But won't warn me if the boot is open!

HOW DUMB!

haha, I wish there was a way to program our cars without having to resort to buying the GT1 kit for ~£700, would be so handy.

Awesome Cobra by the way.

Why is it I one day put something reasonably heavy on the passenger seat and nothing happens, another day a piece of A4 paper and the bloody thing beeps like mad, was halfway down the M6 one day stuck in a jam and was told the boot was open, have no idea how long it had been open, how long does it take for a stealer to reprogram the keys/car.

Does Carsoft not do that programming at all?
