Boot won’t open and windows down

As for the roof being securely closed I was just assuming as there’s no loose panels.
Well, the roof is working based on more than a dozen sensors, not only by assuming panels are fastened or loose.
If any sensor fails,
  • the windows won't go up
  • the boot can't be opened

This is the box that’s clicking when I press the roof button.

Yup it’s the body control module aka FRM..

I did point out that if it the FRM goes Pete Tong which now an increasing number are then all sorts of weird stuff happens..

This is the Junction Box JBE.
It's responsible i.e. for 2 windows. That's why the relays are clicking when touching the roof buttons.

Is there anyway of getting the first stage of the roof opening by doing the same as the pin 12 for the boot release. I’ve tried loads of people to get them to look at it but they are all chocca block for ages. I need to get this sorted. Obviously I can’t see any broken wires with the roof up.

The roof can be put into service mode by using ISTA (I haven’t done it though) and I believe some scan tools can also do this as well.
I’ve also read a thread previously about bridging some wires on the CTM, roof top module to trick it into thinking the sensor or broken wire are working.

Never heard about it for an E89 nor found any implementation.
That's only rumor and comes from the F33.

Has anyone got a link on how to remove the drivers window regulator. I’ve a feeling. It’s seized, I’ve found videos on you tube for older models but not the 2014 hard top.

Right, I’ve lifted the widow right up by hand , plugged the motor back in and commanded it to go down. It will go down but not back up ?

Up is depending on the roof status. Perfectly closed or opened (checked by all sensors, not guessed) the windows will work, if their max and min positions are registered.

Update on this. I’ve had someone with bmw soft wear and he’s saying that the diag is saying the roof is closed , there are no roof fault codes, the red light is flashing cause he thinks the windows arnt synced, the switch is fine as it’s showing up, the passenger window will go up and down , but the drivers only up, I’ve had the FRM module looked at and they reakon it’s fine but he reflashed it anyway, it didn’t make any difference , so we’re basically stumped as to why the windows won’t work. Only thing he said was that I’d have to fix the alarm module plug which I snapped , but it had the fault before I did this. Does anyone have a plug that would fit the module please, or know where I can get one. I’ve attached a pic

Although the drivers side switch is “showing up” is it possible that the down part of the switch isn’t working so that’s confusing the FRM, it could be worthwhile trying another switch.

I’ve just got back from my hols and the lad who was looking at this still thinks it’s the frm module, he said the roof is happy now and the boot opens , but because the drivers window won’t go up the roof won’t work. The window will go down but not up. So , wevm though I had the frm flashed he seems to think it’s hard wear damage , but I still can’t understand how, as it was working fine before hand. Could it possible be anything else that’s causing the window not to go up , we’ve tried two different motors on it now so it’s not that.
