What's the book value of a 150k mile Z4MC...

Hopefully that wouldnt point out the fact you have these parts fitted to someone who hadnt noticed already.
It may invite someone to tea leaf them

Oh no..... Sorry to hear about the incident. Good thing you are ok, as many have said that is certainly the most important outcome. Re: the car, I hope you do get it back on the road, however that happens. Did you get a decent deal on the rental car, given its out of your own pocket? I've recently had to rent a few times (new job expenses policy says hire one if its expected to be cheaper than claiming for mileage) and had a good experience with Enterprise and Sixt who gave me some cracking deals for 3-day rentals (sure it would be better for longer periods) and often a free upgrade to something larger and better specced. You've probably done it already but do shop around and see who will give you a good deal if you need a car 'for a while'.

Even with unprotected NCD most insurance companies wont wipe it out, but you'll lose 2 years.

Not sure if you'd go to 7 yrs or 3 as 5yrs (at 60% discount) is what the majority of insurance companies discount to.

yes - that 9 years to 0 makes no sense as it is based on scales, protected or not.

I've got an account with Enterprise from the days that my e34 M5 would regularly be off the road - so use them regularly.

Didn't get the notification from the insurer that they wouldn't be supplying a courtesy car until it was to late to use my local one (as it shuts at 12 on Sat and isn't open Sun). Next closest had nothing available, so it's a trip to the city centre to pay about 5% more for the week (£120 for a 'Focus').

I've been trying to contact the broker to see why the NCB has been 'unprotected', but again they're only open normal office hours, Mon-Fri.

Will keep this thread updated once I've got anything to add - although I'm leaving for work at 5:15am on Monday morning, so they'd better have a plan for picking the car up without me there - maybe I should just leave one set of keys with one neighbour and another with another just in case.

Good luck with all of that. Worse when you need the car for travelling as well but at least you can claim that part as 100% business expense (and deduct the VAT).

Rather late to this as I've been away, but chipping in with my well wishes buddy. Very gutted for you, re the car, but glad to hear you're safe and sound.

Just posting to show I haven't forgotten you all now that I'm temporarily 'zed-less' (although the Seat Leon FR TDI 150 I've got as a hire car isn't too bad).

Nothing new to report, and car is still at the 'being assessed' stage.

Don't know why it's taking over a week to assess it though, and the suspense is killing me

In the meantime it has been depressing to see what I'll have to add out of my own pocket to any potential write-off payment based on 'CAP/Glass' guides to buy a lower-specced (than mine) Z4MC. The only 'good' news is that it looks like coupes are commanding a £2k premium over the equivalent roadster - so might have to 'settle' for a roadster :poke:

Are you looking to buy it back?

Interior alone on your's would be worth a few quid, but would be nice to see it back on the road.

Still don't know whether it's going to be repair or not.

Interior needs a refresh, and was booked (now cancelled) in for a leather clean & reconnolising. Wheels need refurbing, but I'd decided to go for a new set instead, as most of the refurbs seem to bubble after a year or two of my mileage - even the expensive refurb I had 2 years ago have flaked & bubbles near the wheel bolt holes & air valve.

Buying it back would depend on how much I'm offered for it, and how much for salvage, as I've seen a salvage roadster for sale, with most of the front end missing, for £6k. We've all also seen cat D cars for sale for not much less than non-cat cars.

If they offer me £12k, and only ask £2k for the salvage, then it would be daft not to buy it back and either sell it for parts/salvage, or turn it into a track tool.

Any write off offer (assuming I don't buy the salvage) would have to take into account bringing any car I could buy up to the same spec as mine. Which would include the cost of buying a similar car and then adding the suspension, Gruppe-M, Rogue Diablo exhaust, new clutch & flywheel (which I'm sure no other Z4MC has had done yet), new diff, etc.

will you be looking at getting another 1?
Of course.

It will either be mine repaired, or use the write off settlement for (or more likely, as a deposit) on another.

Not fussed on exterior colour, but interior will have to be single colour, non-black leather, and have decent tyres on already, otherwise I'd be spending £600 immediately to put PSS on.

Have had a look at other cars that could do the same job, and the closest would be a Cayman S, but I'd probably be looking at more cash and would want to do some mods anyway, and i'd have to learn all about Porsche issue before I went down that road.

Have also considered going to an e86 3.0si, e46 M3, R506 SL63, Audi TT-RS, R35 Skyline, Elise/Exige, etc., but they're all more of a compromise for my use than the Z4MC (price, space, performance, fuel economy, insurance, etc.).
