What have you done to your car today?

I did a bunch of things to my Z4 over the past ~2 months. Let's just say things that I couldn't live with when I bought it last April.

Impressive, I prefer the back Msport interior personally… have you also changed the roof?

EDIT: just realised roof was wet in one photo and dry in another

Installed new front ARB end links (Meyle HD).
i’m none the wiser… what are these? Why would you change them? What difference does it make or is this maintenance only? Thanks. (Technical knowledge extends to fuel in the hole in the side of car)
The Anti Roll Bar (ARB) hangs through two rubber bushes. The ends are then connected to the suspension via links. In the UK these are more commonly referred to as 'droplinks'.
On the front these are about 6 inches long with a ball joint at either end. One end bolts to a hole in the end of the ARB, the other bolts to a bracket on the suspension damper housing. They need ball joints to allow for the wheels turning.
On the rear they are about 3 inches long and basically solid with a hole at each end. One end bolts to the lower suspension arm, the other end simply push fits over the end of the ARB allowing a litlle lateral movement.
When I say 'simply push fits' thefre is a degree of poetic licence. It is a real PITA to get these on, especially while lying under the car on a gravel drive!
The rears can break, but are generally pretty robust.
The fronts can generate an MOT failure if the rubber boots on the ball joints are split, allowing debris in to damage the joint.

You can usually hear them when they are bad. They will make sound when driving slow on a bad surface.

Brilliant! That makes lots of sense. Something to check I’m guessing before MoT (as well as the lightbulbs) thank you

Fitted a set of winter wheels I managed to pick up for €80. Gives me a chance to freshen up the CSL reps and prep some maintenance for spring…

Those new wheels look GREAT on your Zed, Barty. And seemingly a bargain too?

Thanks, yeah they were an absolute steal
Style 187 originally available on the E90/91. Ironically I picked up an E91 as a new daily about 2 weeks ago

Monaco Blue with a fully reupholstered interior (2021) in saddle brown. Used to belong to a BMW mechanic who has taken care of every typical N53B30 issue- and then some. Drives beautifully, a nice addition next to the Zed :driving:

They actually look pretty good!

Those Style 187 wheels look great Bart.

Much nicer than the 158s I've got on my E90. And your smart looking E91 should be handy for your parts buying trips!

Thanks! Next trip is planned for early march
Really liking the new look actually. Looks smart against the green

Fitted my Apex ARC 8s that I purchased from TomK last week, look fantastic and could be placebo but ride quility seems much better, not sure if its the slightly higher side wall on the Michelins or just the reduction in unsprung weight over the Style 203s that were on before.

Yeah kept the beige top - I actually do love it against the red. Plus chances of finding a used black top in similar condition (only 34K) that was also removed without damage would be a challenge.

Just added more camber with new bolts and washers, then made this thing to hopefully make me less crap at heel toeing. The good news is it works.
