When undertaking a retrofit I noticed that there is an error in the coding how-to, for this it has been removed. I'll replace it as soon as I rectify the problem.
Sorry about that.

hi Dave, did you manage to replace the doc with the improved one by any chance?
doing this tomorrow
thanks
yes, thanks :)

New, replaced doc at the link on post 1

hi, I made a stupid thing
let the boot go down just enough to click after removing the negativ cable from the battery
and I'm not able to open it now
any advice?
thanks

Dave, I run the recalibration using Tool32, job ended with okay
though I still have FTM and DTC warning
what do you suggest?
thanks

thanks, I'll check

went for a short ride to see whether the control works, it doesn't

so the coding didn't go down 100% and I have the two fault codes

coding: I used the software I got with the cable and from setting Vehicle Order I had different commands available, though I did select FRM etc., so this could a reason where it went south

I'll install now the sw package you have in the guide and give it another try

at least I didn't brick the car

so, I started using the package from the guide, repeating all the step from the beginning

1. at step 18 I already had wert_02 for TEMPOMAT_SETZ_ANZ_DAUER, this got written OK into FSW_PSW.TRC

2. anyhow I coded this again and arrived to this screen NCSExper:

3. at step 21 I didn't have this MANUAL profile or any of the others what is shown in the guide on this picture:

since now I'm using the software from the guide, I expected this profile available

when I did this the first time, I missed that I tried to achieve coding using the commands available and perhaps this is the cause of the problem

I guess these profiles come with the install, but I don't have it after the install, strange

Dave, could you please share the PFL directory from your NCSExper install? (profile files are quite small)

thanks

more info, tried another install of Easy BMW Tools and the profile coming with it

whichever app or profile I used I ended up not getting FRM listed in the dialog box to write Vehicle Order there as well
(writing into CAS the famous $544 was OK, it appears just fine as already added)

why don't I get FRM listed for the 2nd VO job?

I got it here at Step 7, just like it is in the guide, but going from her to try coding the VO into FRM doesn't work

a quick update, all works now :driving:

I'll update.the guide with my findings and send it to you Dave

Any chance of a quick summary of how you fixed the issue as I am undertaking this soon and possibly before the guide is updated.

Cheers

hi, sure

- I only used Expert mode profile to code all along (see above my request to Dave to send me his profiles)
- since I didn't have FRM I used NFRM to add the Vehicle Order
- after adding VO to CAS and NFRM instead of Process Car I re-coded every ECU listed one by one, somehow it felt that Process Car finished too quickly and also a guy suggested this in a post at another forum
- here exit NCSExper, turn off car, take out key, wait 10+ secs
- and I didn't have to use Tool32 to recalibrate DCS, because I didn't have any fault code at all (I don't know why it was like that, it might be that during my previous coding attempts I ran Tool32, but then it had no effect)

I ended up using Easy BMW Tools from here https://mega.nz/#F!YE82wDha!MTgUZTlrpxNmTBanUV_h_g!5McjmQpK - lots of other good stuff there

I hope this helps, I'll try to update the doc asap, good luck

Cheers man....that's really helpful.

Just a quick question, possible for Dave - in the last step of the coding (before resetting the steering angle sensor) where the big list of modules are coded (to tell the car the retrofit is there), what is actually getting coded to these modules?

Is it information taken from the VO that gets written to the other modules?

It all makes sense to me up to that point, but this step I just can't figure out what is being coded.

Cheers

it may be that specific VO codes trigger specific functions in different ECUs and that's the reason, so a new VO code is propagated all the way down

That does make sense....cheers!

Just a quick question regarding the stalks.

Just bought some from an E90 with part no. : 61319123041

I checked realoem and that says this is for a car with MFSW, rain sensor and Cruise control, so seems exactly what I need and a snip at £45, but just not sure if it will work as its a different part no. to the version for the Z4 (61319123049).

Anyone got any thoughts if this will be okay? Or should I just buy the correct part no.?

probably. there's enough commonality between those two vehicle lists for those parts, but sometimes its not obvious why there's a difference.. Give it a go. Its not too hard to take it out if thats the case.

annubiszed has a good thread too on here. nice to have a video as well

Using the excellent guide on page one, I've successfully installed CC on my 2014 2.0 E89. It seems to work perfectly, apart from the minor detail of the error message "cruise control failure". :D

Would you have any idea where I have gone wrong, clearing the fault is only a temporary solution.
