How-To - e89 Cruise Control Retro-fit

Right guys sorry for no comments back but for some reason I'm no longer receiving notifications for this thread, don't know why as I was before.

Right, I'm going to go through them as much as I can.
Firstly though the guide is made up of other information I found along the way, not all entirely my work.

tintoverano, you've done well  as you've spotted FRM isn't in the e89 list it's NFRM as you've spotted.
I'll be looking at another update on it again to rectify the problems you've noticed.

Z4Sparky, yes that stalk assembly should be fine as long as you have auto lights and auto wipers then it'll do the job.

sounds great

also, please put a note to the beginning of the first doc: don't close the boot after disconnecting the battery :headbang: :D

Using the excellent guide on page one, I've successfully installed CC on my 2014 2.0 E89. It seems to work perfectly, apart from the minor detail of the error message "cruise control failure". :D

Would you have any idea where I have gone wrong, clearing the fault is only a temporary solution.

Chris
not seen this message when I installed it. If its all "working" but producing an occasional error (does this happen every time you run it after clearing it?), its something a little more subtle than an installation error I would assume.

No can't say I've seen this before either.
As long as the physical connections are correct and the VO and the FSW_PSW.TRC are correctly written and you've run Tool32 correctly then it should be fine. the only other thing could be a faulty stalk, but I doubt that.

Finally managed to get INPA and NCS Expert working and did a quick test by coding the Digital Speedo!

Had a few issues with the COM port alignment in the .INI files (even though I was sure I changed it), but finally got there.

Also had a mess around with NCS Dummy which is quite useful. and managed I have set up the FSW_PSW.MAN file to code the cruise control speedo to the KOMBI (and also the alarm beep when locking!).

Full steam ahead for the retrofit this weekend! :driving:

Hi all

Firstly let me thank Dave for the excellent guide, without this the coding would be a nightmare!

So, I installed this retro fit for Chris (CJP1800), I'm quite familiar with the coding side of things with bmw.

The fault is appearing on the idrive system in regards to cruise control, we tried adding $540 to the fa code but cruise wouldn't work at all, only by adding $544 we managed to get cruise working although Chris's car is a 2.0 4 cylinder car.

We also modified the TEMPOMAT_SETZ_ANZ_DAUER entry in the FSW_PSW.TRC file to wer_t02, am I correct in assuming this is the entry that disables the warning in idrive? If not does anyone know if there is such an entry for the kombi module?

Appreciate any help with this, cheers.

it is wert_02 though

wert_02 is a setting that displays the speed that the CC is set to for 3 seconds - wert_01 is 0 seconds.

Can't see it would affect any error being displayed on the iDrive.

As already suggested, maybe see if there are any fault codes stored.

I am assuming that after you added $544 to the VO you wrote that to the rest of the car....and then reset the SAS?

Managed to get my cruise control fitted and working today.

All in all it was pretty quick - not sure exact time as I was doing an oil change, cabin filter change and battery change at the same time.

Only issue I came across with the CC was that the penultimate step when you code the whole car would not work - ended up just coding the KOMBI and DSC after amending the VO and that seemed to work.

Only problem I have now is an A8C6 error code which relates to the driver's side DRL (angel eyes). Indeed, it is not on, so not sure what is up there.

Maybe a bulb blew when I changed the battery, but I have a bit of digging to do to try and fix that one!

Anubis zed cant seem to PM you

That'll be because I believe you need to have something like 10 posts under your belt before you can PM.

You can email me on Now Removed (<< just remove the spaces, spaces are there to stop the bots from finding my email address  )

In Part 2 on the first post I have now added links to new profiles and SPDaten files as well as instructions on how to load them.

Hope that helps.
