Woots, its weird mate. Its absolutely like you dont know what you've got until its gone. Very easy to drive the normal routes and get complacent with a car, even as good at an ///M. But if you can do it try and take yours out every so often and really think about it.

I just spent the last two hours doing just that and even though I shouldn't get attached to cars, its sad and ultimately its just a machine, I felt every revolution of that engine, every bump in the road and loved every single second of it. Even had a couple of mini duels with an R32 and a Scooby at various points throughout the evening :)

In the back of my mind I know I'll regret the decision but I've got some great memories and know I'll end up with another one sooner or later. So while you can get out there and enjoy your amazing car! You wont regret it

yeah i guess part of it is that, and it does seem like 99% of the time its just a car....keeping up with traffic, but then last night i decided to floor it in 1st gear and the back end squirmed a lil bit and i had a grin on my face, i suppose its the 1% of the time tht makes it all worth it...
also helps get over previous cars if youre moving up and getting a better car, if i was getting a family car i think id have a lil cry (unless it had 300 plus bhp)

but by sounds of it youre not actually downgrading your car situation?

Trying not to but then anything thats not exotic or the MC is going to feel lower down the experience pecking order. Most 'family' options Ive been looking at are being judged by how high the bhp and a minimum of 3 litres.

I think you need to do a track-day Woots! If you swap the Z4MR for a Boxster or any other similar/better performance car you will still have the same issues driving along, keeping up with the traffic, using the power 1% of the time.

its not the fact that im using 1% power all the time that bothers me per sae, cos i will want more and more power as i get older, its just hard to feel the car is as "special" as it was the first day i got it...if that makes any sense?

but yes i really do need to do a trackday, or even a santa pod day, just something to appreciate the set up of the car, just a bit concerned i ll crash into a barrier

inkey$ would an m3 saloon not do it? its prob been mentioned already?

think a blue one would look ace with the standard 18s

Perhaps you should get a Z4MC Woots! I went from Roadster to Coupe to make it feel more different. It worked because I'm still in love with it 3 years later!

One of those Car Limits days might be what you need. I know others on here have taken their M's on them and have nothing but praise for them.

i think if i had a coupe i would be much more inclined to take it on track and fit race seats etcetc, i dont know why but i think the coupe looks more track orientated? i dont know...

coupe is prob slightly better 99% of the time, and then 1% of the time the roadster is miles better! weather in this country sucks doesnt it!

i think i need to go for a decent hoon, city driving is taking the edge off things
i seem to have an issue that when ive owned a caar for a year.....i want something different, when you get a new car its like "wooaaahhhh" and now although i do like driving it....i duno, just dont think id miss her as much as youre gonna miss molly...

im not sure what i ll get next but im not sure i ll look back and miss her, who knows..

You just need to feck off out for an hour it two - no excuse, you are real close to some brilliant driving roads :poke:

im not sure where the decent driving roads are in portsmouth area....

i miss being in wales, cos i at least know those roads and have some great views, and some awesome greasy spoons...

i might go and test drive a boxster/cayman this weekend....just for the fun of it and something to do...least if i turn up in an ///m they will be chomping at the bit....

who knows i may walk out with a 911 gt2

when i win the lotto tomorrow obv
Off the back of Portsdown hill. Turn left at Nelsons monument and get lost, mad speeds not possible but quiet enough for a hoon. Was out there yesterday with a mate in my Spyder, failing that off around Botley, Wickham etc.

Looked at the M3 and M5. Possibly.
E92 M3 slightly out of my budget but they do look very cool.

Actually, does anybody know how reliable and robust the SMG is on these M saloons? Know if they went on the E46 it was catastrophic.

Up already - lol. You got it bad mate! After reading this thread, I just want to get in my ///M and go for a city snoop!!!

The M3 is an awesome bit of kit but I am finding that they have a very large drink problem & it seems to make my old Z4 M seem frugal! The DCT on the current M3 is supposed to be pretty reliable, would you go for a late E46 M3 you still get the epic S54 motor to enjoy :driving:

E46 styling feels a bit dated now though (but not yet rare classic status). So many around too I'd miss the exclusivity. Again, spoilt by the MC.

Better the M5, you'll value the improved rear access from four doors over two. How about M5 Touring - epic V10, huge practicality and a rare Q car to boot. Get a warranty though...

Or you could put your name down for the new Audi S3 due out in September? 300PS and quattro but with better fuel consumption than the current 265PS :)

...oops, better bottle my sales exec side
