Calling Scottish Dwellers...

Well, the end result with be a no vote - and with the promises made by Westminster now, it will cost even more in the future to run Scotland ...
Greeeeaaaaaat, that's what has been becoming clearer and clearer as all these promises keep on being made from the UK side. Scotland will be laughing all the way to the bank of England How about we push that yes vote now

Noises at Westminster are already being made demanding more powers for other parts of the Country, or even a Parliament for England (away from London) David Cameron has got his hands full with all this!

Just noticed the entire campaign is built on no policies. Surely the no campaign can call salmond and his scaremongery up on the fact he has no plan whatsoever, however whats really scary is that people are happy to risk it all without any clue what they're voting for. Scary times.

Yip! That's why I cannot understand people voting Yes. You know what you have just now but nothing re the future under independence.

The Scottish government already has quite a lot of these so called devolved powers they talk about, Scotland Can actually tax residents more or less than the Westminster government via HMRC, however they have failed to use some of these powers.

Any changes in further devolved powers to Scotland will need to be passed through parliament and honestly I can't see things that will be of detriment to the rest of the UK in terms of money, spending etc being passed. Like I've said the SNP & Scottish government have powers to raise their own revenue via raising the frozen council tax and taxes which they have failed to do so thus far so why should the rest of the UK as a whole be penalised? It wouldn't be accepted by society as a whole.

However it's opened a right can of worms with other parts of the UK wanting more devolved powers.

Nobody seems to realise that the UK even as it stands is a tiny little place - what do we want next? To be split into counties each with its own government.
Ive even seen rivalry between adjacent villages, maybe thats next step after county government! I can understand vast places like the USA having state governments but the UK? Its bonkers.

And "they" wonder why they can't get peace in the middle east!

I despair

Voting aside, it is so striking how diplomatic and fair this whole thing is.

Just unimaginable that around the world, other countries settle this by sending rockets, tanks, soldiers in.

Anyway, back to the discussion ;-)

Spot on. The politicians spend fortunes on military and foreign intervention to maintain a place at the top table for themselves, and most of the populace are so used to the idea we are important they don't realise we can't afford it. If we invested in industry and infrastructure instead of military this would probably be about as good a place in the world to live as there is. If Scotland go the only plus might be That the UK has to tighten its belt and stop playing at being a superpower for the sake of the egos of a few politicians.

Aii, in some countries people fight and die for independence. In this country you just need to ask politely :)

It's depressing to think the politics in westminster is so bad people are willing to vote for the unknown rather than risk another round of crap antics from eton's children.

This isn't the next four years of politics people are voting, its the future of the most successful kingdom in modern history, and they're looking at throwing hundreds of years away to spite the last few years of bad leadership (ironically in a time when Scottish unemployment is dramatically falling). It's about time England did something for itself and forced westminster to clean up it's act, else wales and NI will be next out the door.

Although everybody here puts across very fair points, has any of you thought about what you would think if the shoe was on the other foot?
What if the government controlling your country was one that you had never voted for and you finally had the chance to change this?
Would you not take a chance or would you just go along knowing that year after year it would always be a government you never wanted?
Again I have nothing against anyone in other parts of the UK but some comments on here are quite derogatory against Scotland.
Its comments and opinions like these that have made people want independence in the first place.
Theres been a lot of talk about how the Yes campaign has been aggressive, I have not seen this personally, all I have seen is happy people enjoying talking about what could happen.
However I was in George Square tonight and it was like one big party until there was a convoy of unionists turned up and started shouting abuse at families with young kids whose only mistake was wearing a yes sticker or holding a flag.

The campaign for English independence will commence the moment the ink is dry on the Scottish 'No' vote.

Wished they'd bugger off and now more of my dosh is going up North to pacify them and I still have to put up with their imports (I.e. Brown & Darling). Unimpressed.

Excuse me where have you been? England almost never votes Labour but we keep having to put up with them thanks to Scotland and Wales.

Get a grip, theres only 4.5million in Scotland, not enough to really change the outcome unless they all voted for the same.
I take it you want the Tories forever cause we certainly dont.

Absolutely and this is the big issue here which affects most of the UK, not only Scotland.

People have had enough of it all, hence the rise of parties like UKIP.

I don't agree with everything he says, but he makes some good points starting around 3:30 in.

Agree. There are plenty of Tory voters in Scotland, there's just more labour voters. I'm a Scot by birth and blood, and proud of it, but this whole affair is a fucking embarrassment. For me as an 'exile' I don't know what will be worse - a yes vote that results in everything falling apart in a mess when there's still no plan in 18 months and the Scots becoming a laughing stock, or a no vote that results in the Scots being seen as bolshie & belligerent but ultimately just a laughing stock with lots of growl and no bite. Most of the people down here think it's a quaint bloody joke, driven by a jowly egotistical idiot who has no plan but plenty of Braveheart sound bites. I'm sick of it. What a fucking stupid idea.

Well thats another problem for Scotland as its been reported that he hates Scotland.
Is that what the future holds for us if its a No vote?

It has certainly stirred up a huge amount of bad feeling both in and outside Scotland.

I think what has now been broken here will not go back together again easily.

This whole affair will change things whatever the outcome tomorrow.

I just hope that the pricks in Westminster feel the winds of change at gale force.

This makes me very sad, because I agree and I think you have voiced very eloquently my personal feelings about the situation, without swearing

What a price to pay if all that is achieved is a message to Westminster.

We elected a government for the UK and not everbody likes them, that's just democracy. There's not an alternative.
As for English MP's making decisions about Scotland, there are Scottish MP's and many high ranking in the past, that are making decisions about England.

Yes we are two countries but are a United Kingdom.
I hope it continues as such.

Sorry but this is going to sound harsh because I'm seriously peeved at these comments/statement from Nictrix. Can I just point out that I'm scottish and I've made it very clear that I will never vote labour and yes I did vote for the Tories in the last election so you, along with Sturgeon and Salmond and the rest of the 'Yes' voting people can stop this 'Scotland never voted for this UK government' pish because I'll not be the only one in Scotland who voted Tory! And I'm fed up hearing this f'ing line as it's utter BS! Don't judge others by your own voting stance.

Whilst unions influence the Labour Party I will never vote for them!

Exactly! Well said.

We all want to live in a democracy until it's not going our way. To make this farce even more laughable this stupid we never voted for this UK government argument is flawed in so much as a lot of people don't vote! They have the chance like everyone else to vote and make their choice about government and yet choose not to use it and then moan like buggery at what's going on.

One opinion I'll never change is if you don't vote then you can't moan!
