Calling Scottish Dwellers...

sounds like something you'd expect in a third world country lol

Similarities are there indeed with some of the Middle East countries ...

- Oil available - check
- Dictator in place - check
- Sparsely populated - check
- Extremism present - check

sound like we should collect all the no voters up and bring the to UK for their own safety, leave the yes voters to fend for themselves, i'd give them 18 months lol

I think you might be taking that a little too far now. I would be gobsmacked if we had anything resembling riots/disturbances of any kind regardless of the outcome. Not trying to start a Scotland v England debate (we are better together) but Scotland has never seen the types of riots that many English cities have. We barely even have football related clashes as crowds are now so small !

Earlier report shows how out of touch some in the very far north might be with the feelings in Scottish Cities - to suggest there will be riots in modern day Glasgow, full of cafés, coffee shops and bistros is ( I hope) laughable. I don't believe there is sufficient political passion when it comes to the bit. Again - let's hope the silent majority speak up.

You just need to change that to a foreign dictator present then :D

Power does indeed go to peoples heads. Will be interested to see how Mr Salmond conducts himself with a country at his mercy, if its a yes vote. He's already decided the pound will be its currency!

Cameron could always annexe the oil rich parts :).

To be honest if any No campaign politicians actually made the effort to travel this far north they might get a decent conversation out of these people - and some great ammunition against the Yes campaign.

They'd need subtitles for some of those conversations!

I actually told the lawyer across the road last night I'm quite happy if it's a yes vote for them to build a nice big wall around Scotland and let them do as they please.

Given the way the Yes campaigners have reacted to recent political visits and the way they've conducted themselves in the public domain I honestly think there is a good few that will use a No Outcome to start some issues. I do hope and think that it will be a No outcome and a lot of people voting No are less likely to advertise the fact that they doing so other than the Yes voters. I've seen one window across the way with a No thanks but 6 with Yes on them and the rest of them blank.

On Friday morning we will know and the post-mortem will begin for another few weeks!

You'd have to be mental to put up a no thanks sticker given the way a lot of the No thanks banners have been treated round by us.

And I know there's been vandalism on both parts - but I've only seen vandalised no stuff (about 20 separate vandalised items).

The Yes campaign seems to have a majority in one aspect at least !

Oh I totally agree. We've had guys at the door from the yes campaign asking for Mike, clearly trying to pull the foreigner vote and when I was asked I said I was undecided so they left me done reading material all about voting yes. I only did that because I didn't want to say yes but I didn't want a debate on my doorstep.

A colleague at work was walking with mrs when they were asked by a yes campaigner how they were voting, she instantly said she was voting no and without hesitation the yes campaigner said that's cause your English, didn't even care to ask her reasons but she soon corrected him.

Feeling the Pulse here in Dundee, it's been branded the centre of the Yes stronghold. For all you lot 'Darn Sarf', Dundee has extremely high unemployment (blame the Feckin militant Unions for scaring off any potential investors, The Union leaders were rejoicing back when they managed to close the last remaining industry here, Timex. WTF?) and is 'socially deprived' in many areas. So It doesn't surprise me in the least that there is a YES leaning. They think that independence will suddenly mean the streets will be paved with gold and their benefits will increase but of course many of these people (and I don't blame THEM for claiming) really believe that money comes out of thin air - after all, it does for them!

The sort of attitude here is along the lines of......"I want a bigger house, I've got 5 bairns and you expect me to live in a 1 bedroom flat!?" " Of course my dear we'll get you a bigger house."

My honest advice would be," Have you tried keeping your legs closed?"

We've arrived at the obviously predictable situation where there will be more irresponsible people in the population as a whole and they will of course vote for what they perceive will benefit them (see what I did there?). There will be less responsible voters because we only have as many children as we can afford to bring up, both in terms of finance and nurture. This is painfully what we are observing now with the majority of Yes voters where turnout is expected to be a record 90% or so. Talk about biting the hand that feeds!

I really fear that what exists in Dundee on the socio-political front, is a microcosm of what Scotland may become if independence wins through.

Oh, btw I'll be voting NO, unless you didn't figure.

I always remember the press lamenting the death of some great leader of the people whose sole claim to fame appeared to be stopping Ford from building a factory in Dundee because they didn't want a single union deal !

Retards the lot of them !

Great post BTW :)

It's the something for nothing culture? Some are not in the real world!
It's all gimme gimme gimme.

I think the yes are literally "banking" on more cash to go their way. I think and hope there are disappointed.

Unfortunately yes that's the way.

A prime example being that in a very deprived part of Glashow, Castlemilk most residents had never registered to vote because the didn't think it mattered or could change anything. I'm sure some aren't registered to vote because people can then locate you for outstanding debts, council tax etc but that's by the by. However the Yes campaign went there and got people registered to vote good on them but these people are voting yes because the Yes Campaigners are giving them unrealistic view and as mentioned above they think the streets will be paved with gold and they'll get everything they want. People want a better future for their children, a better future would be for these people to get themselves off benefits and into work and set the right example! These people are also disillusioned that services, healthcare, policing and education are run by Westminster when it's the SNP in Edinburgh.

We have a Scottish government that doesn't want to cut services, keep hospitals that are very much underused open because people demonstrated against them being closed and the knock on effect is they need to find money from elsewhere. Where? They will need to rise tax, they will tax business which will push them out if they've not already gone. I bet our biggest export, Whisky will be a bigger revenue generator than oil!

They talk about Scotland being a wealthy country and that this will allow better benefits for all but they are talking about poorest unites and not money. If you don't have money now, you won't when we are independent. Plus if business move out then there won't be many opportunities!

Ah !
I remember "The Mulk " as they referred to it in Glasgow. An old pal and I from many years ago (45+) went to a New Years party there !
I was a brave in those days. To be fair to all it was a good night out. :D

The devolved parliament in Scotland has had every opportunity to change things in the last few years but nothing seems to have been done.
Anyway its not long to wait now :D

Indeed Ron, not long at all and if it all goes wrong we've already started planning a move south!

Interesting if it is a yes vote, if you reside in Scotland on the 24th March 2016 the day they split supposedly then no matter your status or country of origin you will be registered as a Scottish citizen no questions asked. I think Mrs May might want those border controls in place pronto!

I was very happy to move to the Borders! We did talk of doing that when I retired but circumstances weren't quite right at the time so we decided not to make the move.
Friday will tell if we made a wise choice.

No matter what the outcome we will still pop out for lunch an a few days up there. The people won't change!

Just noticed the entire campaign is built on no policies. Surely the no campaign can call salmond and his scaremongery up on the fact he has no plan whatsoever, however whats really scary is that people are happy to risk it all without any clue what they're voting for. Scary times.

Well, the end result with be a no vote - and with the promises made by Westminster now, it will cost even more in the future to run Scotland ...
