Anyone else worried about Lewis?

This is why I think they might rule in favour of Lewis.

27.7 Any driver defending his position on a straight, and before any braking area, may use the full
width of the track during his first move, provided no significant portion of the car attempting
to pass is alongside his. Whilst defending in this way the driver may not leave the track
without justifiable reason.

For the avoidance of doubt, if any part of the front wing of the car attempting to pass is
alongside the rear wheel of the car in front this will be deemed to be a ‘significant portion’.

But how they are supposed to react, once committed, at that kind of speed is anybody's guess. And you could say that Hamilton would have passed easily had Rosberg not blocked him, given how much faster he came off the corner, but I'm not sure Rosberg can be expected to have seen this clearly in his mirrors.

There you go. The footage never lies.

Still, as you said, at silly speeds you're talking about fractions of a second to react, hence why I think it's 50:50

Turn's out Nico was in the wrong engine mode and quickly changed it after realising he was losing power. Unfortunately he was doing so much on the steering wheel, by the time he saw Lewis, it was already too late.

I'm sure Z4M-2006 will disagree though, despite the evidence produced by Anthony Davidson who has all the footage at hand.

Ah, that explains the flashing brake light. Resetting after "max beans" at the start, I guess.

EDIT - actually, f*ck it. I'm backing Lewis on this one. He's clearly got an overlap in the video footage and Rosberg was a lot slower coming out of the previous corner. So Lewis either says "I'm going to back out of this so that Nico can go ahead and win the race" or hold his line. It's all very well for Mercedes to ask its drivers to think about the team, but they can't expect them to both do this and also ruthlessly take every tiny opportunity to gain an advantage, the hallmark of a world champion (just look at Verstappen - case in point!).

Rosberg should have just maintained the gap between himself and the edge of the track. If he was playing around with his engine modes and was too distracted to realise that Hamilton had a clean pass, then that's not a good excuse for it to be deemed a "racing incident", it's just sensory overload on Rosberg's part.

Rosberg will sleep just fine. He is the driver in the lead for the championship. One less race for Hamilton to catch up.

Exactly that. Rosberg won't care as much as Lewis.

Monaco next, which is pretty boring with regards to overtaking.

I take it that there has been an incident in F1 again ??, Been to busy enjoying topless motoring. :P
I will say though, I think Lewis is penalized more because he's black, I'm sure the F1 establishment don't like him for that reason. That's my penny's worth

Edit, just seen it and I would say Rosberg was at fault, he forced Lewis onto the dirt and then he was just a passenger along for the ride.

Nico shut the door in his face but wasn't expecting to be taken out in the process. Not a great fan of Lewis, but credit where credit due, to catch the charge light and know that Nico's got a problem and go for broke shows great instinct. As for Nico, typical German racing driver, if you can take out your closest rival out whist leading you are the championship, go for it

What a feeble effort at a joke

get a grip mate...it was a bit of light hearted banter.. we're not all f1 lovers
I thought it was funny, but I may be biased.
I think I may have watched a small part of one F1 race years ago but got bored and switched over to Last of the summer wine

Nice summary
Only thing is not sure Nico is sharp enough to take out Lewis on purpose, thoughts are he was too busy doing the "oh s**t wrong engine mode - oh s**t who's that coming up the inside - oh s**t!".
Good break for everyone else in closing back points, and what a win for MV, Her Helmut must be overjoyed

Not at all - he must be one of the best out there on race day!

Definitely better than Nico (that is why Lewis won the championship last year!) although there are a few others could give him a hard time if they had cars as good as his (Alonso, Riccardo and dare I say Verstappen?).

I don't care about his lifestyle, gender orientation or sexual proclivities - I just like seeing him drive better than everyone else around him. Plus he is a Brit! After all he had 1 season at McLaren with Alonso, and he showed him up! (Hence Fernando huffed and puffed and went elsewhere)!

But today has to belong to Max Verstappen - surely a superstar in the making?

Get a grip? not sure what your issue is, but I don't have one. If I don't like something, I tend to ignore it.

What? like my feeble effort at a joke? It was you who made the sarky comment so apparently not. not quite sure what some folks problem is with a bit of banter
