Yes of course he knows....
He's giving all this information but deliberately withholding the one thing you've asked for 10 times over in this and the other thread![]()
And to make matters worse, you've had the same conversation with the same guy almost a year ago on Zpost:
http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256822&page=3
Back then he probably also deliberately withheld that info.
Whats next?
Of course he's german and there's also a big german Z forum where he has the same username.
So you've got exactly one year to learn german and have this conversation all over again on zroadster.com with him.
Probably in this thread:

All these details I mentioned above are based on informations various users received on different requests directly from BMW customer service. Therefore I do not understand why they do not support your request as well.

I appreciate your opinion. Are you a collector? Do you realize how many cars were not "popular" in their day but later went on to become collectible? Did you know for many years nobody wanted those old red cars, you know, like an old 250 Ferrari GTO. There was a time when you could barely give a Tucker away and you could buy a 275 four cam Ferrari for $6k. You know what they sell for today?
I am a collector and there are certain cars that have intrinsic value.
Now, back on track.....I am not saying this particular car of mine will be collectible. What I am saying is I rather like having things not so many other people have. Consequently I am lucky enough to have certain vehicles that no one else on the planet has or where they are one of a very rare few. ..............

It's a Z4, not a Zonda. Get over yourself. Comparing it to a 250 GTO (of which there are 39, just to sate your desire for production numbers) is at best misguided.
There are so many millions of spec combinations that many people could sit and wait months for another car of the exact same spec to come up. This information you seek may have a small impact on the value of your vehicle but the market determines what is collectable.
For what it's worth, I don't see the E89 assuming any kind of classic status. And if it were to do so it wouldn't be for about 20 years. (Will cars have an inherent value in 20 years time when the legislative bodies are wound up, taxation is horrid and the sweet smelling fossil fuel isn't flowing from the refinery?). Until then, you're stuck in the same maelstrom of depreciation as everyone else.
To my mind a collector would have put those dollars towards a Z8, or perhaps jumped in on an early E85 or an E86 M. Maybe you've got all those already. Of all the BMW one could collect, an E89 isn't anywhere near the top of the list right now.

Yes, of course porsche owners are very different from bmw owners. Certainly if you take in mind that loads of people here own both or owned both, switching forth and back.....Valor1 said:.... and Porsche owners are very different from BMW owners.
Guess that is too much to ask.

Its not too much to ask but we dont know and -apparantly- a lot dont care.
If you put your back into it and start punching in vin numbers systematically in the vin decoder eventually you'll find out exactly how much of every car is made....You really seem to want to know, so that'll make it worth the efford. Sadly there's no such thing as a free lunch here.
The last 7 digits of the vin tell everything about the car.Valor1 said:Yes, you're right. But not sure how the VIN number helps. VIN tells a bunch of things but color as far as I understand the 17 digits is not one of them.
You're talking about an era that porsche only made sportscars  Thats pre 2002 so at least 15 years agoThere was a time when driving a "sports car" said something about the owner.

First, what's frustrating here is I did not start this post as a "collector" post. I just wanted to know how rare or not my car is configuration-wise. That everyone has their panties in a pinch over this is ridiculous. Does go to show there really is a huge difference between different owner groups and from my limited experience here, it would Ferrari and Porsche owners are very different from BMW owners.
Thank you for the reference to the GTO and the Zhonda. Interestingly, even in that limited world people will note the rarity of their car, such as the green GTO, for example. I know for a fact at Pagani color selection is a very big deal as owners like to have their own unique Pagani.
No, I am not about to post my private collection here and I guess you missed the post regarding the Z8 S2 and Magic Violet Z1.
Bottom line is I simply sought information concerning my car's configuration. Guess that is too much to ask. Reminds me of what a vintage Porsche dealer once said to me as the difference between a person who buys a Porsche and a person who buys a BMW.

What colour, what interior, what engine, what gearbox what hifi system, what satnav, what electrics, what trim etc etc.
With your posted vin I know for instance you have satnav professional and a heated steering wheel (amongst others)
Its in the BMW vin database. Its only not reverse engineered (not searchable), so only putting in the vin will give this data.
Nobody took the efford to hack that database yet (afaik). So hire an 17 year old asian kid thats a guru in SQL....
