As there has been a fair amount of interest i spoke to Nige at BCS today RE the price of the backboxes & tips .
He's aware there is a post running & has offered a forum discount for members based on limited numbers for a limited period .
Price would be £688 for the pair with tips delivered as straight bolt off old / bolt on new or they can fit at St Helen's for a small charge
Thereafter or via their webpage the price will be £770
To quote Nigel " the boxes themselves are a hybrid design that have been developed & patented by BCS which operate on gas flow velocity with a equalizer system " don't ask me  "
Anyone who wants in depth technical info he's happy for you to call him .
Timeframe now is the completed system should be fit & finished on my car week ending 25th July .
The company will be posting videos & sound recordings online that week

Looking forward to hearing those vids :driving:

Me too !! Price sounds reasonable compared to the competition

Sounds very intriguing! I've been thinking about a change to something a little more civilised for a while now...any effects on engine performance?

The guys at BCS are switched onto performance gains as opposed to losses so i would doubt very much if there was any reduction in power from the change .
Worth asking the question though so i will when i next speak to them
Don't ask me what they were up to but this was in for some exhaust " modifactions "

I dont know much about tuning cars but on bikes if you change exhausts or silencers you also either make the engine run rich or lean.
Does the same thing happen on cars? I would think it does and therefor does the car need to be tuned to whatever changed have been made to the exhaust or intake system?
BMW have obviously set the car up with the intakes and exhausts that they use on the car so swapping to aftermarket stuff surely could cause damage to engine internals if not set up properly afterwards.
Can anybody shed light on this or does the ECU on a car cope with these changes without tuning?

Oohh, just caught up with the thread :)
Never thought about an exhaust upgrade, but if it operates as intended this could be a nice 'upgrade'. Looking forward to the vids.

You said that you're getting yours finished/fitted end of July, how shortly after does the forum group buy start? And is there a limited number of pre-orders?

i may have limited experience but its not something ive ever heard discussed with a change of backboxes or even catback systems :?

Good questions that i can ask on your behalf , when speaking to Nige today he basically said he would be happy to offer the reduced rate through the transitional period then once the initial hoohah dies down he will revert to offering them via their website . They do sell their products worldwide & expect to do the same with the ZM boxes

It may not matter on cars but changes like this on bikes can cause them to run lean or rich.
Obviously there are consequences and damage to valves can occur if its lean and the engine will run hotter.

Thanks mr wilks. I've just been on their site and they don't show any options for exhaust tips sizes / finish options, could you get them to supply some example pics so we can add to this thread?

Just wondering if there are any thoughts on this or whether there is just a lack of knowledge of any damage caused after running long term?

I can't see an issue with changing the system after the cats. There are pre and post cat O2 sensors that do a very thorough job of monitoring the lambda (mixture) levels and they will continue to do just this job unaffected by a cat-back system.

I also doubt there will be an appreciable performance gain - simply a different, hopefully better sound.

I would be cautious of a system that is simply made to fit and hasn't be tested for droning. I have a set of H&S boxes on my M5 and while they sound lovely they do drone at motorway speeds. That gets old after a while. I suspect H&S just made up boxes that fit and look correct but never tested them whereas Eisenmann probably do test them.

It would have been easier & quicker for me to order up a set of big name boxes already on the market but the deciding factor in choosing a BCS system is to 100% avoid any drone at any speed , if there is any at all once fitted i won't be taking them & will put the idea of exhaust change on my car into the bin .

Any updates on BCS' side? How is it going?

They're putting the boxes together with the new flanges & brackets made from templates /measurements off the OEM backboxes . Booked in for install 20th July & i should have it back on the 25th/26th
