ZM custom backboxes + tips BCS Powervalve Now Fitted

Quick update , first opportunity to get down to see Nige at BCS today .
I,m sure these are the guys for me , car up on ramps & a 45 min chitchat on noise, fit & of course tips  + much enthusiasm for the M engineering
Not going to be the quickest exhaust conversion job though as they are mowed out until July :o
This wouldn't be the same problem for anyone after me as any further sets would be a replica to what will be the end product tested on mine

I guess it all depends on the videos you make when you are happy with the design. One showing constant cruising and another when going for it.

Really good to be the test mule for this. I know I enjoyed it when getting a custome exhaust for my Alfa gtv v6.

Only problem you have is its a really long wait :headbang:

How's your patience?

Looking at how quickly you have got your wheels etc, I think this will be your biggest frustration

Will be good to hear the exhaust at the different stages of development if possible as well

Step closer today , spent the afternoon at BCS so they could remove OEM backbox to measure the necessary brackets, flanges & overall dimensions , also looked at the different tips & made a decision to step up from the current 63mm factory ones to 75mm as in pics below .
The boxes should hopefully lose the "cow udder" look of the OEM ones that hang below bumper line
Actual finished fit booked for late July

These are the standard box & tips

As you can see the ones chosen are close to OEM look but have more detail & girth

Very interesting. Only two things left to know about this - price and the various sounds. Keep this updated Mr Wilks please. You don't have an aftermarket airbox/filter do you?
Stevo

sorry to ask a stupid question, but other than aesthetics is there other benefits to this custom exhaust?

Erm, did you read the thread? :poke:

Great update, going to be very tempted with this if it works out as advertised, looking forward to the sound vids!

Had plenty of time today to discuss the end product & am in no doubts its the one for me & most probably for many others , obviously the proof will be in the pudding & the guys at BCS are 100% confident of achieving a stock sound but with the volume turned up to 9 from the standard 7 , zero drone at any rev/speed but when the exhaust gases are pushed through under pressure (so whenever you gas it either stationary or on the move) then a noticeable increase in rasp & character .
We shall see , also well pleased with the tips , they are a quality item & particular attention is being given to just how they sit in the cut outs so as to mirror the OEM stepped look as much as possible

So as I understand it, for turbo'd cars, they run a t-piece off the boost pipe to control the valve - how are they going to control the valve on an NA car?

Totally OT but i would love one as a family hack , prices hit bottom 18months ago & haven't dropped since
Very competent all rounder no bling, understated bullet , we throttled it through France & Germany & landed home 2k later showing 35mpg , in sport mode it was crazily quick off the mark
Good motors

As there has been a fair amount of interest i spoke to Nige at BCS today RE the price of the backboxes & tips .
He's aware there is a post running & has offered a forum discount for members based on limited numbers for a limited period .
Price would be £688 for the pair with tips delivered as straight bolt off old / bolt on new or they can fit at St Helen's for a small charge
Thereafter or via their webpage the price will be £770
To quote Nigel " the boxes themselves are a hybrid design that have been developed & patented by BCS which operate on gas flow velocity with a equalizer system " don't ask me  "
Anyone who wants in depth technical info he's happy for you to call him .
Timeframe now is the completed system should be fit & finished on my car week ending 25th July .
The company will be posting videos & sound recordings online that week
