Z4MR - Unreasonable Deal??

think you are probably asking for a bit much, 39k, ins2 is probably 10k off unless its been thrashed, if you had a years warranty and an oil service thats still a great car with imola and carbon too, from a main dealer its going to be dearer than private but they have the overheads and you have the comeback, your choice you could hold out to prove a point and see some other person crusing in your motor, or bite the bullet and enjoy, ... once you spend the money you forget about it. i have talked myself out of plenty of cars in the past, but with the m coupe I just knew that baby was coming home with me ! , tbh I didnt even test drive it , several times i nearly bottled it as 17k was the most i had ever spent on a car, 18 months on... no regrests i am still loving it... big time. go and do the deal , good luck1 :driving:

You can put a second year AUC warranty on at point of sale for approx 300 quid- why lose the car for such a small amount of money.

kind of agree.... these cars are getting pretty rare with such low mileage.

That's a lovely car, so you pay for what you think it's worth... There are a few examples about with varying prices, but even if you paid the £300 so at say £15300 for two years AUC, that's not a bad deal at all...

Good luck

You're not doing yourself any favours by being a cash buyer. Most dealers actually make more money from the interest on finance deals than they do from selling the cars. If they can sell this car to somebody who'll take a loan through the dealership, they will take far more profit out of the deal, so they may prefer to hold out for a buyer who's financing their car.

Problem is, they won't even do the Inspection 2, so it's not even about the warranty. I'd happily pay £300 myself, but was told a second year was £640 or so.

You can look online yourself for a quote - http://bmw-warranty.co.uk/

If this is the right car, I would push the button as you are based up north like me the costs of travelling to see other cars soon mount up. I factored this into my negotiations last year.

^^^ This is a very good point

Never even crossed my mind

Not to the same extent as they may have done in the past. In the low interest low commission environment the car has to stand up on its own.
They will sell with or without finance and aren't bothered. PCP, etc is a little different.

Real money is made on extras - gap insurance, wheel and tyre insurance, extended warranty, paint shield, etc. etc.

In terms of this car - if it's the right one stop haggling and buy it, or if not move on and find another. Dealer has set his price for now.

then, when you are ready, a road trip to paddock motors in exeter for sensibly priced inspection 2 and great jurassic coast scenery. what better way to christen the z. someone else could be umming and arring on this motor while you make up your mind, you know what they say,.... you snooze it,... you loose it ! :driving:

450 mile trip back home in a car where loads of new bits have been fitted?
Having been stuck in the middle of the peak district for three hours after a main dealer forgot to tighten the spark plugs up on my impreza, I'd be giving that a miss.

That car is my cars twin (except the aero spoiler). That's a bloody good price IMO. I'd forget haggling on pounds and haggle for deal sweeteners.

I got insp II and a years tax, plus the price I got on #69 was £50 less than I paid for her 18 months earlier.

My advice. Hold out until they say drive away for £14500 or £15k with Insp2 when due, 6 months tax and an official BMW car cover :)

If they don't call you in a week and you're desperate for it, call up and offer that before haggling to the best they can do.

This is prime buying time. End of month and end of quarter. If they haven't made their number, or if they're close to a bonus kicker they'll be all over you today and tomorrow.

I think your on the money... End of the summer and people will drop prices by 2k to shift on at that level so just wait till Christmas Eve and offer 14 lol

Weren't cars like this one (ie early/06/highish miles) going for 12-13k about 6 months ago?

I figured mine was worth about 11 - identical spec to that one except it's blue and has about 20k extra miles

I don't think they've ever been 12k at a main dealer.

I'd have bought this by now and be enjoying the unseasonably warm weather we are having. Life's too short and if it is the right car just buy the damn thing and stop quibbling over a few hundred quid. :driving:

Can't believe the price. I've got everything this has except for the SatNav and bought mine almost 2 years ago for £15,000 with just 15k on the clock. Even now it's got 29k of smiles chalked up, I can't believe I'd get anything like this price. Imwith pilchardthecat. Source from a private sale would be my thinking.
