Your thoughts on the Parrot mki9200

Would like some input, anyone got one or used one??

http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits/parrot-mki9200, looks like a great solution for iPod and Bluetooth.

I have been thinking of getting one for my car. All in all, I've heard nothing but positive reviews, but the thing that puts me off is the prospect of having 3 or 4 cheap, plasticky-looking objects scattered around the cabin (microphone, screen, remote). I suppose it depends on personal taste really, but I'd rather keep things as uncluttered as possible. Think I'll probably end up getting a new head unit with built in Bluetooth/iPod - probably one of the new Sony ones which can Bluetooth stream music as well.

The only negative review I've heard about the parrott is that it can be a bit of a pain trying to upgrade the firmware, but I think that's a given with all of these things.

Get a parrot 3000 and the interface for the Steering wheel and all can be hidden away.

This is also true for the 9200, but you need the screen to see the ipod track list and caller ID etc.

This looks nice http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/cd_receivers/ipod_iphone/KIV-700/ , but it will be expensive once you add the bluetooth add on and steering wheel interface.

On advice given by John Kleis in Reading (car audio specialists) I went for the MKi9100 has a smaller screen than the 9200 and I linked it to the Parrot UNIKA RKi which links it to the steering wheel controls. It works great and everything is well hidden. Voice control doesn't always understand what i am saying. It saves me having to touch my iphone while driving.

I've got this in my Z and will endeavour to photograph it all in situ, you'd never spot the microphone, the iPod dock hides in the glovebox, the screen is small and neat and the buttons are almost hidden behind the wheel from my perspective.

When it works it's great, but mine hasn't been terribly reliable. In the end, the fitters ended up blaming my phone, I stopped using it and went back to my old K800i and I've had no problems since, so maybe it's not the kit's fault!

In reality, the Z4 is so noisy with the roof down that unless you're going slowly (30mph approx), or really shout, a decent conversation is next to impossible. What is useful is the iPod connectivity. :D
