Belated hello and comparison thoughts

I joined the forum in May 21 when I bought a G29 S30i and loved reading the posts about members cars. Back then Jim S and the stone in the brake problem was the no1 post! I have posted a couple of times mainly about winter wheels. I bought a set , BMW OEM 18” which made world of difference in cold wet weather , ice and indeed a little bit of snow. Transformed from almost undriveable to actually quite good.
Loved the 30i and used it as daily with some great road trips in. Decent performance and great to cruise with hood down. Did 36k in it and other than a very annoying dashboard rattle at low speed which was never sorted it was a dream to own. No issues with the ivory interior that looked as good as new after 3 years. I had planned keeping it for a while……


But, just over 3 years later I took the bait of an incredible offer from the dealer to order an M40i. This is a weekend / road trip car ( have embraced dark side of EV’s for work commute ). I really love the B58 engine and sounds glorious , although just maybe that extra weight in the front makes it’s ever so slightly less nimble in the corners. Not really done enough driving in it to be fair and can’t wait for next spring and summer when hope to take it over to France & Switzerland.


One quick question please. Is there a Zedfest event scheduled for 2025 ?

I haven't seen anything about a Zedfest in 2025, but if there is I'll be there!

Sounds like the classic trade-off faced by all Zed drivers right back to the M44 vs M52 conundrum posed by the Z3 - do you go for the increased power and sound afforded by the six-cylinder engine or opt for the improved handling and fuel efficiency provided by the four-cylinder.

No right or wrong answer and often down to personal taste and / or usage requirements.

Zedfest as was (Shepshed Mill) is no more but Zedfest North West took its place this year and is due to run again next year on July 20th. There is a group on Facebook

Thankyou. I used to live quite close to Shepshed Mill and I knew the owner had some problems so sadly couldn’t host again but I missed seeing the North West one. Will get on to it as I’d like to attend one
