Which Quick Detailer? - BULK Purchase

I'm getting fed up with my QD sprays running out, so have decided to get myself a bulk purchase.

I've only ever used Meguiars Ultimate QD, but can't find a bulk version so will have to look elsewhere.

I basically want a product that offers some sort of top-up protection between sealant applications.

I am thinking about:

Chemical Guys Hybrid V7 Sealant and Detailer
Sonax Xtreme Brilliant Shine Detailer

However, I'm not refusing other considerations. Does anybody here have any recommendations for QD's that are available to purchase at bulk sizes (3L+).

Cheers

oddly enough there's a shop near me that is called QD and it sells liquid detailer for 99p a bottle. it's always done a pretty good job in between waxing / polishing for me.

don't know what it's called, i'll have a look next time i'm in the garage.

sells microfiber mitts for 99p too, and they're the same as halfords' £4.99 jobbies.

I got 5l of the Sonax BSD from CleanYourCar - it's very good, not quite as slick as Gtechniq C2v3 but lasts very well on our DD and beads water like crazy

Perry, is the Sonax BSD easy to apply? Some reports that it's thicker so not a straight forward mist & wipe? I want to avoid having to "buff". Keep contact to a minimum.

Poorboys all the way. I only use Megs when there's no Poorboys

I love Poorboys products! Is it the Red Mist Tropical QD?

Where can I get it in Bulk from Adam, any ideas?

Smells awesome, typical Poorboys bubble gum smell  Works a treat though, really.

Have no idea where it can be bought it bulk, but I'd be up for a group buy if we could find a supplier

It's as simple as as most other QDs - I tend to use 2 MF cloths at a time, one to spread it around and a second dry one to give the final wipe over, as the second one gets damp I start to use that one to spread and a new one to shine.

You don't really want to let the misted product dry on the paint so just do one panel at a time, don't apply in direct sunlight or onto a hot car. It is thicker than things like the Megs QD but as long as you have a decent spray head that can deliver a fine mist it's easy to apply.

I'm a muppet, I read Poorboys but for some reason I thought dodo juice....hard to keep track of all the companies :|

I've found this:

128oz.....would certainly last a fair ol' while

this...

as said... not the best of 'nicest' to apply... but looks great and the beading is mental!

I should add that I've tried lots of QDs and my favourite three are Megs, Sonax BSD and Gtechniq C2v3

The Megs is the easiest to apply and is the best for getting rid of waterspots but doesn't last or bead as well as the other two but is good to have handy for quick wipe downs especially if away from home.

C2v3 is amazingly slick and beads as well as the Sonax and is probably my favourite by a slim margin but you can't beat the amazing durability and price/performance of the BSD for cars that are kept outside or used as DDs

If it's of interest, last year I did an informal test of the durability of a single application of the Sonax BSD on our 118d - the car is kept outside and used daily by my wife for work which involves a lot of in-town driving

This was 4 weeks after initial application, it's worn off on the nose but still beading and causing run-off on the bonnet which I think is amazing durability for a QD

So, if you spray a qd on your car and there's grit or bits on it doesn't it scratch the paintwork when you wipe it?

I wouldn't go that far Carol, but it would certainly be safer than just wiping. If you have light dust on thar car, you could use QD and a damp microfibre, however, if you had actual "dirt" on the car I wouldn't use it.

Personally, I'd never used QD as a wipe clean product, I use it as a drying aid.

Most detailers seem to agree that most swirls are put into the car during the drying phase of a clean. I spray my microfibres with a mist of QD before drying each panel, to add a bit of lubrication to the towel, helping to prevent swirls.

It also adds a bit of a protective layer and helps wax / sealants last longer.

I've got the sonax brilliant shine and wasn't impressed after all the hype. It's harder to use than the megs but mainly the beading wasn't what I'd hoped. Although I've only used it once on an un prepped car. The car now has a layer of wax on it so I may try it again at the weekend. Although I have been itching to try my new farecla clay mitt so we'll see

I have tried most QD's out there..

Sonax BSD is the daddy...

Yes its a bit milky and does need a little more work to get off the car but totally worth it..

Have you tried it on untreated paint? Didn't you find the beading didn't live up to the hype? I compared it to the megs qd with protection you can buy at halfords and they seemed the same. I but 1 coat of autobrite black magic on a couple of weeks later and the beading/sheeting was 5 times better so I didn't think the extra hassle of applying it was worth it.

What do you mean by 'untreated paint' - if the paint is rough because it's covered in contaminants then a wax will give better results as it coats everything with a (relatively) thick layer.
