Never really liked the body style of newer z4's

By contrast I think the old shape looks very old now, especially from the front.

I really do agree with you as I recently sold my E85 which I loved but since getting my 35i is so much better looking and much more modern and as for the interior well it is night and day as the difference is huge.

I guess the front end I could agree and the interior but the overall shape I prefer older models. Like how I honestly prefer the looks of a 350z over a 370z aside from a 370z's rear bumper.

I voted for V8 normally aspirated loveliness. :driving:

e89's a nice car just not my bag and the m235i is about to be completely overshadowed by the M2.

V8. Yes please (Assuming I don't have to pay the fuel and servicing costs!)

It's a shame the E89 didn't get the V8.

M235i for me, I have ticked the E92 M3 box and wish I hadn't bothered but would love a M235i and really looking forward to the M2 as well :driving:

If the Z4 35iS was offered with a manual gearbox I think I would have gone with that because I love the shape.

It is a real shame that these engines are dead now OG and I would have liked to have experienced the S65 in a much lighter package rather than it being hampered by the M3`s kerb weight because as an engine it does have some real specialness to it and its 8400rpm redline and induction noise are very addictive :driving:

Tough one. If I could I'd like the M3 as a daily, with my Z in the garage and an M235i with DCT for the wife :D

If forced to choose, as a second car, the M235i. So that's what I've ticked.

As a replacement for my current Z... I'm not sure, as if I was in the position that I HAD to sell the Z then I probably couldn't afford any of these. If I got bored and wanted a change... Probably the 35is, less raw drama than the M, but more modern and luxurious, still a roadster of sorts, and (I'm told) just as fast. But boredom is nowhere on the horizon, so that's not going to happen

Just a thought... How easy do you think it would be to reduce the kerb weight to something that would change the experience ? How much weight would you need to lose ?

I think it depends which model you're talking about, but I do like the front end of the e89, say from the front of the rear wheel arch forward. I just don't like the ass end, and I am an ass man :D

That said, if I owned one and looked at it every day I guess my opinion would change.

M235i, no contest, E92 is not wearing it's age well I'm afraid, especially the interior

Oh has to be the convertible variant though

Maybe but remember the M135i/235i are an \\\M sub-brand not an M so an indirect comparison. Having said that the M135i has been compared to the 1M as being 9/10ths as good. I'm absolutely loving mine and after trying an M4 recently and stepping back into the 1er whilst great fun I just don't think it justifies the disproportionate cost increase. I feel BMW hit the sweet spot with M135/235.

Of the 3 I would take the M235i as the best everyday alrounder, M3 is lovely but as a daily driver I wonder after a while it would become tiresome. The Z4, still adore the looks but its starting to feel quite dated in its drive compared to F Series models, BMW really need to look at a replacement soon.

Tim.

I like real M models, so the M3 for me - manual gearbox available as well which is another thing that the others do not have I think.

Its a tough one Bing because 1200kg is around the ideal I would like but that's totally unrealistic, if it was around 1400kg that would make a fair bit of difference though, the reason I prefer the M235i is because it is lighter than the M3 not by much surprisingly though but it also has a smaller foot print when compared to the M3.

The M3 weighs the same as a 520d which for me is just too heavy and it drives like a 5 series in feel as well so that's another reason why I prefer the 2 series.

Agree with all of this Tim
