Can't really disagree with your comments really. I've had a quick go in an M135i manual and it's a little belter. But I've never had a V8 and I'd love to tick that box so it would be E92 M3 competition pack with the OEM exhaust mod and when I got bored I'd send it to G-Power to do their thing!

I like real M models, so the M3 for me - manual gearbox available as well which is another thing that the others do not have I think.

Proper "M" - Normally Aspirated, manual gearbox! Grab one while you still can.

The V8 box is certainly worth ticking  you are also spot about the OEM mod and that's a must...love you mentioning G-Power too, you have such a wealth of car knowledge OG and I love it! :D

Agree and that was one of the big reasons I wanted a E92 M3 because one it was a N/A V8 and two it was offered with a manual gearbox which I gladly went with...even though the DCT does suit the engine better.

As a daily driver though the M3 does have quite a few flaws which did disappoint me sadly.

Think I read somewhere that the majority of later E92 M3s were ordered with DCT. Wonder if the manual will become the sought after model in a few years.

DCT out sold the manual big time after around 2009 as you say and when I was looking for mine it was rare to find one on AUC with a manual because nearly everyone had specced them as DCT from new, the DCT suits the engine so much better and when I had mine because you had to keep the revs so high to get the best from it I used to cog it down into second then I would bounce off the limiter and quickly whack it into third and repeat.

The DCT would help eliminate bouncing into the limiter and help keep the momentum because its an engine that is so flat below 5k to 6k revs but it really gets a shift on after 6k revs :driving: I do have fond memories of hitting 110mph in third at 8400rpm then slamming it into forth...only trouble is that gives you a good idea of why the gearing on the manual doesn't suit UK speed limits much!!

Its not an easy car to enjoy unless you turn a blind eye to speed limits...I wanted a race track in my back garden when I had it!!

M235i out of the list but if the e92 was on the list then that would be my choice.

Tough one. If I could I'd like the M3 as a daily, with my Z in the garage and an M235i with DCT for the wife :D
When I read this first time I thought
"Yes, I too would trade my wife for m235i"

But I read it again

M235i - had a test drive and was very impressed - my pick

Z4 is getting old, the in car entertainment in particular looking dated by comparison

M3 is too expensive to run

I did think that Perry after I posted it! I am usually so well behaved too...she is away so I am feeling brave! :D

I think the e89 shape is stunning there's nothing in its class can touch it for looks ,the M2 and M3 are basically bog std cars with mad engines , :poke: that will date , the E89 35is on the other hand is a very stylish bonkers convertible ,that sticks out a mile when parked up :D ,when I pick the missus up from work on weekend and park our E89 up with the roof up or down , unless it's a Ferrari or a lambo in my opinion there is nothing to touch it for visual appeal :driving: ,it's only my opinion , but there you are , :fuelfire: if I can get a 35is I will be having one ,God knows how

I'd have this one :)
