I'm looking to purchase a couple of these from the states for my use and wondering if any of you folk would be interested in a group buy.

They help with the removal and fitting of your wheels and can prevent damage from wheel hitting the disk/rotor etc, and help with Aligning the holes in the wheel with the threaded holes in the wheel hub while inserting the first lug bolt.

Depending on level of interest will depend on price, but I have been in touch with the seller and think the prices will be as follows with optimal shipping quantities.

M12x1.5 aluminum tools which are slightly blemished. The anodized finish is scuffed or scratched. £6.50 each

M12x1.5 Stainless Steel £12 each

The aluminium ones are suitable for occasional use and the seller has said these will probably be the last as the SS ones outsell the Aluminium ones 2:1
The Stainless Steels one will last a lifetime though.

In the price I have allowed for Import Duty, VAT, Royal Mail handling fee, hopefully enough postage to send on in the UK. Hopefully we won't get hit with some of these charges so they will be cheaper, but I have given worst case.

If your interested can you list how many and of what type.

Depends how often your going to use them and how well you treat them. I was going to go for aluminium ones as I would look after them but I guess they will nick against the wheel maybe where as the stainless one as said will last forever.

TBH one should be enough as long as it's at the top, where as you can use two and it doesn't matter what position the wheel is in.

They are a nice idea and looks like a few people are after them. I have used them on Jeeps where the wheels are real heavy.

Easy enough to make one for near £1 each by cutting the head off a smooth M12 bolt, or at that price I'm sure a local shop could machine up a batch for less than £3 each.

Illustration of bolt prices, but I'de need to check they were 1.5's

Have been told the reason to use two would be as follows:

Aftermarket wheels typically have an enlarged center hole so that they can fit more than one brand of vehicle. So two lug bolt guide tools are required in order to accurately align the remaining three holes.

True, although having just swapped over my wheels it is a pain in the arse trying to lift the wheel at the same time as line it up. If you could slot the wheel onto one of these then you could use the one hand to align the wheel (pivoting on this device) while the other hand screws in the wheel bolt.

SR - you don't really need 2. Just have one pin at the top and slide the wheel onto it. The weight centres everything and you place the 2'nd bolt at the bottom the 3rd and 4th . Trying to rotate the wheel to align to 2 pins in mid air is much harder and really defeats to object.

EDIT - beaten to make the same point :(

So Phil can you confirm bolt sizes - no idea myself and wouldn't want to be cross threading, but sounds like a useful bit of kit for a few quid.

Well the link says 'M12 1.5' which seems correct to me and matches all sorts of BMW's older wheel bolt sizes, so would go for that. Just google that size for suppliers.

These guys sell the same tool for £10.20 a PAIR so way cheaper at £5 each than the £12 to import, tax, mail, etc.

I'd been trying to find a UK source but struggled hence looking to the USA.

Just found this though after googling "quick align wheel tool"which is the same as CJ found but delivered for £12 so a no brainer really.

Might as well order your own chaps.

PS I might look into a local shop to make me some, but due to the nanny state not sure it would be worth the risk in selling on due to H&S etc.
