What Should I consider as another sports car?

So I love the Zed and will probably keep it forever as I have a warehouse and space to store, sorn, etc. but over the last couple of months I've been itching to try something else

I have £40k to spend (or so Mrs CJ tells me), but would be happier at say £35k rather than above the price
Has to be 2 seater sports car, not a 2+2 or saloon pretending to be sports
Modern and quick
Must sound right and be driver focussed, but not overly pure, so no Atoms..
MPG doesn't matter as will only do 6k/annum
Outright purchase or PCP if dealer does something silly
Roadster ideally but could live with coupe
Not for tracking
No kit cars or continuation (except E type continuation - as if :))
Let's assume for now it's not an ///M although it's the obvious power, price, involvement, etc. choice and 1/2 the budget

On my list:
Jag F type is gorgeous and has dropped into the price range and you can get new from £48k
Alfa 4C is the sports alternative. Great performance but is it too harsh and a 4 cyl turbo
Boxster or Cayman - Just can't decide if 'me'. The 718 is a quantum leap forward, but would have to be previous incarnation

Can't decide if on or off
Audi TT - solid, quick but it's an Audi and love or loath design
Audi R8 - price point might be a gamble as they're older
Lotus Exige - don't know. Never owned or driven except tuned up track type variants
Mercs - don't know..

Off the list
Aston Vantage as it's a bit long in the tooth and too GT

No right or wrong answers so would love to hear comments and what you'd buy and why given the brief

Boxster S a stonking good car with a chassis thats constantly communicateing with the driver and thar flat 6 wail is addidctive :driving:

If only I'd not had so many kids.....

Nice problem to have CJ!!

Mike

One advantage of age and them growing up :)
Just realised if I keep them all I'll have 4 2 seater vehicles. I must need therapy ...

To all - I won't comment yet as I'd like to see a wide selection of opinions

AM-V8 if you can stomach the issues but it sounds good

** edit ** - did not read to the end

I'm in a similar position every 2-3 years. The choice is pretty narrow. F Type would probably be my choice (and may well be).

Boxster, not special enough for a weekend car. Ok for a daily driver.

If you thought again, get rid of current daily, then budget is more? Man-maths says more usage, less cost per mile?

If it is just a weekend car, by a mint MRoadster and a big bike.

you will need to barter a bit to get this down to your budget but what a car :D :D :D :D :D :D

I could dig deep in to my savings for this but my wife would kill me :(

Would have to be a Jag F type roadster for me :) :driving:

Yeah plus 1 for me

Nothing else on the road looks as good at that price point. R8 is starting to blend in to the rest of the traffic now, think it's lost its wow factor from a visual point.

I really fancied a boxster or f type but had to dismiss the boxster as wife wanted new and I got scared half way through the option list , f type again expensive but has no boot to speak of , I do use a car for real world Euro travel , so it was no good .
I bought slc 43amg , no one rates them but they are a lot better than anyone realises, first choice would have been the boxster though , just the merc suits my life better .

Phil, for me it would have to be an F type Coupe, either v6s( often said to be the best all-rounder,as I am so re you may have read)or the v8 if in budget.

Some good PCP deals on these, looked at them when thinking about getting an F pace, but that was more than the Wife wanted to spend monthly, driven child was on the way, haha.

The convertible F type is Very Nice, but think the Coupe is even better looking :D

R8 V10. Appreciate you're buying older/higher mileage, but magical car and completely difference experience to the Zed, which to me is the idea.

I have always had a soft spot for these. Potential ruining costs have always put me off.

A bit left field but the options are looking pretty predicatable, how about a £110k BMW v8 engined 170mph aluminium bodied thing of quirkyness, love it 8)
