M6 - Should I consider it?

that looks like one hell of a cruiser CJ!

You do realise that you wont be able to carry an ikea wardrobe in it like you can an x5 though :poke:

That's part of the plan. Perhaps I can stop MrsCJ buying things if we have no method of storing them. Naive and stupid of me of course as I'll just have to condense my clothes into a smaller area of the 8.5 double robes we already have.

pvr - a wardrobe in the passenger seat - interesting idea.

So overall you guys have just about put me off. Horror stories, running and service costs, loss of practicality, overall whale size and 5mpg if I actually enjoy it.

Nothing wrong with the X5 anyway :)

Aother X5 3.0d facelift?

Well, CJ's is a 3.0i ;)

I have the 3.0d facelift - great car, 35 mpg on the motorway and a range of 700 miles on a single tank. But not really enough of an upgrade for CJ to warrant the change in money though.

CJ - just read the thread. M6 excellent vehicle but not the soft top, the design around the rear window looks really nasty when the roof is up. Personal choice I know.

I guess LPG is perfect for this sort of vehicle. My 5.7l V8 Jeep runs on it and it's amazing. Still only about 60p/litre.

I know what you mean Alan about the rear window area, doesn't upset me unduly. Has a look of the old Jag XJ-S butress

I was looking at trading my MR for an M6. I saw the car last week at my local dealer. It's a 2007 with 27,000 miles and they're asking $55,000 so a price of £30k seems like a bargain.

I'm still considering this car, they've only had it about 3 weeks now. http://www.erhardbmwoffarmingtonhills.com/VehicleDetails/658553293

Dual fuel? Not in a M6. If you can't afford the petrol, don't buy M cars.
Or think of it another way...you can afford the petrol, but can afford to do more hooning if your daily commute is taken care of with LPG - and it extends your range between fill-ups.

mmm-five, LPG seriously fucked my dads touareg up... dont do it... :(
I wouldn't - it was a suggestion for CJ10jeeper.

Although saying that, I've got mates with LPG converted Jags and Range Rovers with 100,000 miles on the conversion.

i had a ford galaxy converted to lpg, not a problem with the convertion, problem is that tanks tend to be small and you have to fill up a lot more frequently

Depends on what car and how fitted. Granted some people fit small tanks to avoid luggage loss, but my Jeep has a 110 litre tank :D Turns a 5.7 litre Chevy smallblock into a usable a fairly long distance truck, getting near 400-450 miles from it.

Hello all, picking up my M6 conv this afternoon. Have chopped the Z4MC in for it. I know I`ve paid over the odds for it but there were only 4 on AUC and only two with the spec I wanted. Got the 2 year AUC deal as well. got £19,000 trade in on my 38,000m Z4, which I thought was quite good.

It`s an M6 Individual conv with the lovliest interior I`ve seen. Full Merino gold brown. Will post up pics over the next few days once I`ve learnt how!

I've been down this avenue...Realistically the only good thing about it is the engine.

I decided against it for the following reasons:

1/ I'm 24 and the imagine is all wrong
2/ it's not a good lookin at the Z4M
3/It's 30k+
4/It's 30k+ for a high mileage one
5/It's 35k for a decent one with lower milage.
6/Even the above is older and warranty then becomes an issue
7/My Z4M hasn't been the most reliable...Not as a BMW should be, all sorted now right enough, but the M6 is 10x more complex
8/I only really do town driving and i get 17mpg in the BM, thats 170miles to a tank, a tank a wk. £3k+ on fuel a yr. you can easily add another grand to that for the M6

Just my thoughts, as above the engine is a masterpiece, but that alone isn't enough for me to sell mine and have to subsiquently find 14k to replace it with a equal mileage Older BMW....

No.

Congrats  The M6 is one of the only cars that I could think about letting the Z4M go for. What puts me off is the size of the thing and the savage MPG, not forgetting the gearbox. Look forward to pics and your thoughts v the Z.
