What Should I consider as another sports car?

F type all the way....

Coupe only though, the vert looks like its wearing a tramps hat..

Would the V6 be fast enough?....think there around 330 bhp ??

I'd have the F Type V6S around that budget, 380 BHP with one of the best sounding V6 exhaust notes currently on the market.

The 'S' model comes with more power over the standard V6, active suspension, switchable sports exhaust, bigger brakes and a LSD

Values seem to be holding up pretty well too.

Yep,

Had my eye on them for a couple of years now...

Prices have dropped a little, but not much....

Some really good food for thought and enjoying reading it and there are no 'wrong' one's here, just some that aren't me or fit the bill

My list has certainly widened to draw in some of the Lotus suggestions

70's De Tomaso would be fun but pure Summer weekend car as are most of that ilk, which rules out all the Healey's, etc.
The masserati's are either just too big and real GT's
Viper is just a big engine (so I'd dismiss it with any US sports car)

F type S is a nice piece of kit. Higher mileage 2013's are certainly in budget and 'base' low mileage 1 owner now well within

Having driven one, MX-5 RF all day long, and pocket £10k change.

Very impressed by the 2.0 litre with LSD. If I'd not just bought the Zed I'd have one tomorrow.

I'd consider a Honda NSX, prices are on the rise and in targa form it goes some way to meeting the roadster requirement.

The Boxster is the obvious choice :) but with that budget I would go for a higher mileage Audi R8.

Personally I would rule out the Elise as the 4 cylinder engines don't sound that great and you mentioned you won't be tracking the car.

I know you've said that the Viper is out and you may exclude other American cars, but how about considering a Corvette? Your budget would run to a very nice C6, probably the 6.2 litre LS3, this shape (but your budget would get you a later/low mileage/better equipped example): http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/chevrolet/corvette/chevrolet-corvette-c6/6432293
A Z06 is within your price range but the roof is fixed and do you need that much power on the roads?!

+
That V8 noise :sweetheart:
Lightweight: alloy engine, fibreglass body
430bhp as standard with plenty more available with cams and headers
Decent handling (composite monospring rear)
Strong mechanicals, easy to service
Economy appears similar to our Z4M
Roof panel comes out for open air motoring
Value for money, turns heads, decent resale value, rarity in the UK

-
LHD only
Interior design and quality are pretty lousy
Loads of choice but mostly in the US of course.

Maybe getting a bit too close to a kit car, how about an Ultima? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/ultima/all-models/high-spec-can-am/6544343

Lastly, TVR Tuscan? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/tvr/tuscan-speed-6/tvr-tuscan-mk-2/5420432

Surprised no one has mentioned it but there is a brand new Gordon Murray designed TVR that is due to be released this year......

In your position I'd definitely be waiting for more info released on that car as it could be epic

Not sure its what you're looking for and might be considered too boy racer but you've got to love the performance of the Nissan GTR. Can be picked up within your price range.

Nice looking car but I would want the Type S for the extra bits and bobs personally but the basic one does seem to drive very well according to the reviews etc

Looks smart from side on profile, I think only its mother could like its face though!
Curved rear window ala RX8 :)

It'll be a very sought after car and does seem to echo the lines of the original model.
Assume it will be well outside my budget :(

It has to pass the Puerto Buanus test though 8)

Two cars I have owned maybe worth considering are Mercedes SLK55 AMG, lovely sound and performance.
The other would be the Lotus Evora. You can go for an Evora + 0 therefore strictly a two seater. I would stress that I would definately plum for a close ratio gearbox if going for an Evora.

Would be high on my list personally.

Driven one of these and it is very much a big GT car. It is massive!!

Nice looking but not actually that sporty I found.

Ah, didn't read the brief properly - yeah if the vantage is out, this would well and truly be out! ALTHOUGH the MC Stradale is sensational, feels much tighter - not sure what the price in the uk is though

I presume you have driven a Boxster S (6 cyl., not the turbo 4) If not, do so at once, and your decision will be much easier. I had a 2003 Boxster S for five months prior to finding my Z4, and only sold it due to fear of the IMS bearing failing without notice. Newer models will not have that problem.
