What have you done to your car today?

The Mrs car not mine, but wet sanded the bonnet;

I only took one photo of the wet sanding stage, this was with 2500 paper and I needed to drop down to 1500, and then back to 2500 to hit the bonnet effectively.

I should have just trusted my judgement and started with the 1500 in the first place, but itโ€™s a long time since Iโ€™ve actually needed to wet sand :headbang:

Effectively it got better than this with the 1500 removing many more defects and etching and then went back to this without all the swirls & defects before polishing.

Iโ€™m used to BMW paint being hard, but this particular car is very, very hard :cry:

This weekend I painted the two brace bars above the engine to see what the colour would look like before I do the front one the same colour. What do you think? Titanium Silver, to match the body. Probably the black is no better or worse. In fact, these two bars were perfectly fine. Its the front bar that really needs the attention. Im working my way up to it. Im a complete n00b. This is my first time spraypainting anything.

Nice job - I think they look better in silver. :thumbsup:

The brace behind the kidneys on my car had already been painted red to match the brake calipers and I really like it. Given how exposed that front brace is I'd use something tough like Hammerite.

Cheers. I used heavy duty PU lacquer to finish. Recommended for wheels and harsh conditions. We will see how it holds up. If not, Hammertite it is.

I would go black too, seen silver through the grills a few times and it just makes me think the paints chipped offโ€ฆ. Because thatโ€™s what colour they are when the paint does chip off!

I actually sprayed mine last weekendโ€ฆ. Black ofc.

Quite an exciting week aheadโ€ฆ

Got new rubber on the referbed 108s and dropped them off to get ceramic coated.
Also had my bumper re-sprayed.
And tomorrow she goes in for a full paint correction detail and ceramic coating!

Photos will follow as Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll be desperate to show off while sheโ€™s in good nick!

Gone to a good though :thumbsup:
Yes, Malamutalisk on here bought it. He's a great guy and has owned two 3.0 Z4's previously. There are also two Z3's in the family, one of which is being sold tomorrow.
I'm so glad it's gone to a passionate forum member :thumbsup:
