What have you done to your car today?

Sorry your going to break it, you must be gutted!. if you do, can I have first dibs on the clear rear lights, the clear headlights ( if they're halogens) "& the mfsw please?

I'll keep you in mind  won't be for a while as I still need to use it for a few weeks until the wife gives up work for the foreseeable, so I can then use her car to commute.

I am gutted, but also feeling satisfied that the car has given me nearly 8 years and 70k miles of reasonable motoring  in that time I would've spent around 20k on a new car through my work scheme. Saved myself a good amount in money and had fun in it over the years too.

So what needs doing then Ben ?

It needs a clutch, so that means a clutch, flywheel and rear main seal replacement. Exhaust is blowing on the join between manifold and centre section. Needs a service, passenger side headlamp washer pump is leaking. It all adds up to over £1500, so it just isn't worth paying the money as I won't get the use out of it in the future.

Is that garage price's or DIY, Ben.
Just seems a shame to break her for what are basically serviceable parts.

Garage prices, as there's no way I'll attempt to change a clutch and flywheel on my driveway

If I was keeping and using the Z4 for a long time, then I would definitely spend the money for the repairs, but as I won't get any use out of it after next month, I just don't see the point in paying out to maintain it anymore. It comes to a point where you end up throwing cash at something that just isn't economically viable.

My bodge on the exhaust with a bandage and gum from holts has lasted 4 days  it's back to sounding like a 1.2 corsa with a cherry bomb exhaust

Fitted my Bimecc 12mm spacers today on the rear. I agonised about whether to go for 15mm or 12mm but I think I've made the right choice. They have given the subtle look I was after without screaming "Look at me , Iv'e got spacers on " . :D :driving: Spacer before.png12mm Bimecc spacer.png!@mm Bimecc spacer on hub.pngSpacer 12mm after.png

Re fitted the plenum chamber and a few other bits in the engine bay, turned the car round and started removing the rear sub frame

unSORNd it , had some Dunlop MAXX Rt tyres fitted to freshly refurbed 224s , changed the plates over & had a first drive out in it :driving:

Nice picture Mr Wilks.
What is the meaning of the plate?

Clutch delay valve deleted today - yippie, I'm master of my clutch, finally.

Small repair, slight mod with a paper clip

Ash tray cover fix, it wouldn't stay closed

Found out my third brake light has broke up inside & stopped working AGAIN!!! :x

This will be my 4th new brake light in 6 years :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

So much for the new springs which are supposed to prevent this. What a SH!T design.

Mine had a crack in it from the day I bought it - I looked at it so many times and thought 'must replace that' then read the never ending threads of people replacing them and just left it. Sold it with the same crack in it 5 years later

It so true I keep looking at mine too, it's cracked again, I must be on my 4th one, I kept assuming I was fitting it wrong or something :headbang:

Also noticed that my boot lid struts have given up the ghost, letting the lid slam down which is probably causing this problem with the light

So ordered some of those & a new light :)

good job i love me zed so much or it would go in the same direction as the last wife
