What have you done to your car today?

Went for a drive and a walk. Came back to this lovely looking rear end

Love that Ben. If I ever have to replace my roof fabric, it’s going to be as close to mola red as I can get it.

So yesterday I did the following:

Oil Service
Air Filter
Replaced all spark plugs
Diff Oil Change
Stripped Brakes Cleaned and reassembled
Buffed Headlights

On list to do:

Discs and Pads Replace soon
Drivebelt
Gearbox Service
Coolant
Brake Fluid

Got a friend who is helping me out with all of the above!

Only issue so far: front Brake Pad Sensor is broken - will need replaced - anyone know if this is an MOT Fail? - There is no warning light on dashboard - Z4 has got its MOT in June.

On my R50 (still kind of a BMW!) I've shortened and soldered the wires together. No MOT issue for the last few years.
If you're on top of the car in terms of maintenance you don't need the sensor.

Fitted a replacement radiator fan, thanks synthedup.
Cleaned out the washer bottle reservoir filter and the washer fluid now actually reaches the window :D

Oil and filter change, replaced oil level sender, replaced front brake rotors. All with original BMW parts. Week ago replaced spark plugs, air filter, cabin air filter, wiper blades, all exterior badges, four new tires. Added BMW badges on aftermarket wheels, plus those nifty blue rings.

Dropped car off at garage this morning to investigate smoke/oil leak. I thought it could be related to the replacement rocker cover gasket they did a couple of months ago. They rung me a couple of hours later to say that the rocker cover is cracked, and it's around $900 to replace.

I wonder how it got cracked? Heavy handed when they did the gasket? I’d be asking quesions if I was you.

Painted my front calipers, I know it's not every ones cup of tea but I like red........

Funny, that's the first thing I thought of when they told me: Did they overtighten any bolts when replacing the rocker cover gasket? Cracked rocker/valve covers appear to be very common on N54's (I searched online just to check what the garage was saying) so I'm inclined to believe them as they have been fairly good to me thus far.

Not seen those before... you got any pictures (non-ebay ones)? Fitment and quality is good?

I suppose it’s just something that you will just have to get done. Yes it seems it’s fairly common on the N52 and N54. Good luck hope it gets sorted.

well had front wheel alignment done and used INPA to make sure steering wheel was dead centre.

Also bought a 2 post lift for the workshop!!! arrives next week, so depending on requests it might be available on ZEDfest!!!

For what? Quite a few brake lines come up in threads recently... would be a good service! :) :poke:

Just fitted ZHP in time for the weekend when I plan to do the CDV delete.

Got beat by the Whippy in my attempt to replace with a Stubby - it’s just not shifting

Here's two pics on my car. The BMW badges are sold in different varieties: snap-in larger (68 mm) and sticker, smaller (63 or 64 mm I believe). I went with the smaller ones and the fit with the blue rings then is perfect.

Picked up the Z4 from the garage. They showed me the cracked Rocker cover

Inside:

Outside:

Hopefully that's it for (unintentional) garage visits for a while... :x

Fitted first aid box for extra storage under drivers seat.

Also removed one piece of foam from the sound generator, the one nearest to the cabin - wow!!
