What have you done to your car today?

Well done all you suspension wizards. You're an inspiration to me. Something I have never tackled but feel a bit easier about it now. Ben_g, were they B4s?

Also do you have spacers on the wheels?

Hi mate, yes, I went for B4's and eibach springs

Honestly, it now rides bumps like an absolute dream. My OEM shocks were completely finished. All of them, when compressed, didn't come back up at all.

I only use urban roads with speed humps and a mix of A and B roads and I wish I could give statistics on ride quality improvement, because it's absolutely incredible the difference the new shocks and top mounts have made.

Regarding spacers, I have 12mm on the front and 20mm on the rear. It seems to give a nice stance and I like the way the wheels sit with them.

Gave her a spring clean and wax and finished installing some "homemade" side skirt extensions.

Thanks Ben g. Oh what top mounts and springs did you use?

I went for Lemforder top mounts and re-used my eibach lowering springs.

The Lemforder mounts looked exactly the same as the ones that came off the car, so I assume that BMW used Lemforder to produce the original top mounts.

Taxed and back on the road. Dry enough for first drive of the year this afternoon. Needed fuel so first stop for some super unleaded.

Glad you like it Ben. Made a really difference when I did mine. No more being launched into the headlining when I hit a bump!

Exactly that, MACK! I can happily ride along now and not have to keep lifting off the throttle all the time. It makes a world of difference, not only to ride quality, but also to the enjoyment from the drive.

I'd say it's now on a par with the Fiesta ST 180 we also have, in terms of the ride firmness. Firm, but not uncomfortable. Although I can still drive the Fiesta quicker down a B Road due to the higher ground clearance. I always get a bit worried about bottoming out the Z4

Thanks for all the advice by the way, it helped a lot when I was wondering what products to buy

Oil and filter change, payed the government my hard earned to drive on the Shite roads (Sorry Ben :P ) up the Ace later

Take some pics. I'm stuck indoors tiling and painting!

Roads are so bad at the moment. I really hope they sort them over spring/summer because negotiating your average town centre is getting ridiculous now.

No worries, glad it's made such a big difference

I just tinkered a little, then swapped the Si and the Alpina over, bringing it back from its winter storage ready for its MOT this week.

Had to Jack the car back up as one of my rear droplinks had came loose from the rear ARB :o No wonder why it rode like a boat in the twisties!

Anyway, I tried getting it back in using brute force, but in the end my dad came good and managed to get a clamp around it and pushed the end of the ARB back into the hole it's meant to be in.

Seems to ride a lot better now. God knows how long it was like that for! It had an MOT in January so it must have only been recently.
