What have you done to your car today?

Popped a new alternator on and rebuilt the disa valve, which bizarrely the pin was still tight after just passing 100k but had too much play in the flap and was also missing the main sealing 'o' ring so drawing air in past the MAF making it pink like a bitch. All sorted now, running lovely and smoothly, although I've lost some amusing induction roar. Hey well just have to do the foam removal mod. :D
Must be feeling OK today John doing jobs like that on a day like today , which valve kit did you use in the end

That's a lot less hassle than your engine eating the disa valve John :o
Rob

Indeed Rob, it's an easy job well worth doing. What's not so easy is fishing a dropped screwdriver out from the undertray, ask me how I know.....

We've all been there... I use an extending telescopic magnet to get me out of trouble

Well being honest I did the alternator yesterday Mark. I'm ok doing things that don't involve too much moving about. I bought it from the place in Sheffield you told me about. I was going to PM you and say if you want to pop down to Baslow at some point I'll do yours if you haven't already sorted it.

No mine had a problem caused by a split rubber boot on the throttle body causing intermittent cut outs overhauled the disa due to the mechanical noise it was making

Today I have finally managed to get NCS Expert running on my Windows 10 tablet. Rear brake and indicator LEDs fitted, coded and working with no warnings :D

Engine management light came on during the week, so bought an OBDII reader from amazon for £25. It arrived today so I plugged it in and it told me it was p0174 lean on bank 2.

Zapped out the code, put some fuel and cat cleaner in the tank and drove it for about half an hour and the light has stayed off. Might have been the supermarket fuel affecting one of the emission sensors, might be an air leak, if it stays off, then great!

Removed the horrible circular metal sat nav base that came glued to the dashboard when I bought the car. I've always worried about removing it, thinking I would be left with a horrible mess, and the 'Z' dashboards aren't the easiest to clean! But no, it came off without any trouble, and now I have a dashboard with lovely clean lines, happy days!

So I've had my bodywork inspection for the corrosion warranty. They didn't want to see service history etc but have found some differences in paint thickness. He said he's unsure if it will all be covered but will send off the report to the warranty team anyway. I'll be expecting a call at the end of next week. Fingers crossed.

Presume you have a rust issue.

Typical coupe boot rash on the underside and a few tiny bubbles on the rear arches. Find out later this week if they'll cover it.

Did you hear back from them? Are they going to repair it?

Has anyone got any photos of this boot rash? I think I may have the start of it.

Sorted the high wiper resting position following the HowTo guide. (also fitted some bosch aero wipers) They finish at the lowest point now rather than going back up the screen. Only one small cut on a finger as well, rather pleased with myself.

First run out today since beginning of October and a chance to test my new knob (Stormworks) :D
It's good to have her back on the road again!
And the knob felt great!

Filled him with a tank of Shell's finest. Then emptied the tank again whizzing around Weardale. This was the first chance to have my Z4C out of town on dry vaguely warm roads. Wow, what a blast :D

Not really today, but got round to the de-badge at the weekend. Plus general wash... I can see the paintwork now! :D
You can just see the Z4 outline where the 'old' paint hasn't seen daylight in over a decade! :o

Got round to fitting a new gasket £6 to the oil filter housing .as the old one had perished not done bad 14yrs and 100,000 miles.
Seeing as the alternator had to come off got a new one of them too .£170.
