so.... just found out I can't get my old trolley jack under this low slung beast, gutted i may have to go out and drop more money on another jack and adding to clutter in the garage but so be it if I have to.. what are other folk using that doesn't cost silly money.. was thinking of possibly investing in some ramps but not sure if ill have clearance issues with those too... any info or advice appreciated

Ive got a trolley jack for lowered cars but still have to raise the from the rear jacking point a bit before I can fit it under the front jacking point.

You could do the "really cheap" option and just drive onto some wooden boards, then your jack will fit :)

My normal jack still works at the rear jack point; I ended up buying a low profile jack from screw fix when they have an offer on. Halfords also do one and occasionally have an offer on.

I have this one, I know other membrs have also bought them. http://www.sgs-engineering.com/tjl2-2-tonne-low-profile-trolley-jack

Just purchased........my second. the 987 needs two decent Jacks to safely get on 4 axle stands.
Nice..............

Ice hockey puck acts as a great cushion pads..........

Simo.............................it goes under the Z with Msport suspension and a the 987................its low profile.
I wouldnt waste my time posting if it wasn't................
Its a professional level jack and works very well with lowered vehicles.

Careful jacking via the front of a non-M. The thing that looks like a jacking point will just crush if you use a normal (flat) jacking pad.

I have the SGS and it's good for the money. Quite low profile but still won't fit under the front of the car without a little help.

I also have the Halfords low profile

I've had the SGS one for a while - with two sets of wheels I use it a lot; absolutely no issues, fits easily and its quite a compact unit so easy to get in the boot for track days.

The Halfords jack is the SGS jack. Just get it from SGS because it's usually half the price, or you can a bundle of jack + adaptor + case for the same price as the Halfords unit. No disrespect meant to those that have already bought the yellow one, of course!

My only issues with the SGS are that the handle could be higher quality and that it is a fairly narrow jack, so you need to be careful on uneven surfaces or on slight inclines.

Thanks for the input... i was considering the sgs model but it has awful reviews on Amazon not for the actual quality of the product but the customer service when they have had problems which rules it out for me as they only seem available online... after checking out auto express reviews i think i will pay the bit extra for the machine mart clarke when i get a vat free offer through which should bring it down to 40 quid

From personal experience, I would definitely recommend one of the big workshop type trolley jacks, as opposed to the DIY smaller ones.

Reason: ease of use, build quality, sturdiness and they generally do a better job.

I borrowed my grandads massive low profile trolley jack (workshop style) to get under my Z4 to replace the handbrake cables and it done a fantastic job of lifting the car high enough for the rear wheels to sit on ramps.

In contrast, my cheap small one just about lifts the car high enough to remove the wheels. It's good for the simple things, but for bigger jobs where you need axle stands to get under the car, the bigger industrial types do a much better job.

The Arcan trolley jack posted on the previous page is very highly recommended in the car enthusiast community, and comes in at under £90! Bargain. It's definitely low profile.

Ive just been out and got the Halfords one at £35 yesterday as my current jack wont fit under the Zed. Used it this morning while changing the wheels over to winters and putting in a new headlamp bulb. Seemed good enough to me.
