re trolley jack for z4 * Recommendations *

As per the subject. Has anyone got any info on suitable low trolley jack for the Z4. Preferably something half decent, not Chinese. Just gone to use my one and the seals have gone. Not holding the car up. Needless to say out was a cheap one. Thanks in advance

I have a couple of these, had them a few years now and haven’t had any problems, low entry profile and the handle swivels as well

My advice would be to spend around £100 on one from Machine Mart/SGS, one of the low profile dual piston ones... Makes lifting the car a lot quicker and less effort required, while also being long and low enough to reach the centre jacking points (albeit I do have to drive the front wheels up onto to wooden blocks to reach the front centre)
 
I'd defo go for a duel piston one if I were to go again! My new one doesn't raise as much as the old jack used to (with a single pump).

Good advice. I have the Blue Point version of the jack linked to and it is great on the Z4.

They are not the same if you look at the specs the 2.5 has a shorter reach which is a negative but it does have a lower profile which is a positive.
The extra reach of the 3.0 is most helpful when jacking on the central rear jack point. The other positive for the 2.5 is it is 11kg lighter!
But to be fair either jack would work well for the zed.

Its big and lumpy and being a 3 tonne job makes cranking the car easy. It fitted well on the Zed until I put Eibachs on and now I will have to make some small skids for the tyres to wheel on , so I can use it again , rather then get an SGS one :D

Partly because I'm a cheap-skate, but also because I only use it 3 or 4 times a year so it doesn't need to be anything that special!

It easily fits under my Z4 with M-Sport suspension, and I've been very pleased with it.

I bought the same budget SGS and cannot recommend it :thumbsdown:

After a few dozen uses over the first year or so it started to slowly drop when left for a minute or two. I contacted SGS and followed their top-up and bleed advice but it started doing again after a couple of uses. I've gone back to my 20 year old Halfords lump.
That will teach me for being cheap! :)
 
Similar topic over on Pistonheads, people saying avoid SGS. Sealey is recommended, or Costco.
 
I wouldn't bother with the cheap trolley Jack's. They all fail over time. Speaking from experience as I purchased one of the cheap ones when I first bought my Z4.

Go to Costco and get this:

It's cheaper instore, I think mine cost £90. Well worth the money.
 
I've got a Draper 31481 which has been absolutely brilliant.

I had a cheap halfords one but found it such a faff to get the car high enough to slide it under, this works with no issues, lifts the car quickly enough, and is able to get the car high enough
