trolley jack

The Arcan trolley jack posted on the previous page is very highly recommended in the car enthusiast community, and comes in at under £90! Bargain. It's definitely low profile.

That does look really good for <£100.

I have the SGS and it's good for the money. Quite low profile but still won't fit under the front of the car without a little help.

The jack is as MrPT has said is good value for money. Had mine for a few years like a few other members and never heard of any negative comments. Perhaps your mate got a duff one?

Please don't get an sgs one. Not overly great reviews and mate has one and isn't impressed.

+1 I'm afraid, I bought the SGS item and used it 3 -4 times, but when it was just over a year old it started dropping quite rapidly (say 3 mins from fully lifted to to 50% down) which caused a panic, so although it has some nice features I'de avoid the SGS

I just drive the Zed onto a couple of planks of wood first then shove the trolley jack under no probs.

Like I said originally might just be the photo but doesn't look too low profile.
So u can get to the central rear jacking point with it?

I haven't tried that Simo as my 3.0 didn't need to use the central jacking points like the Z4M has so cannot answer that one sorry.

This is the review on the jack might get some more info to help?

From personal experience, I would definitely recommend one of the big workshop type trolley jacks, as opposed to the DIY smaller ones.

Reason: ease of use, build quality, sturdiness and they generally do a better job.

In contrast, my cheap small one just about lifts the car high enough to remove the wheels. It's good for the simple things, but for bigger jobs where you need axle stands to get under the car, the bigger industrial types do a much better job.

Totally agree

I've got the Halfords low profile and although it works fine on the car (lowered on Eibachs), the quality doesn't feel great and it only just lifts the car high enough to get axle stands underneath. Basically it just doesn't fill me full of confidence at all. I'll be replacing it with something more expensive, sturdy, and with more reach.

I have one of these.

Fits under my M on Eibachs with plenty of room to spare

i have the SGS and have used it loads, only had it about 8-10 months so cant comment on how long it lasts over a long time but more than happy with it so far

I also have the Halfords low profile

I also have this one (after buying the Z4 and realising my previous one was to high)

I'll wrap this thread up by saying that after thinking i wouldnt buy an sgs jack i did lol.... It wasnt the budget model though but one of their alu/race jacks that seemed to have plenty of positive reviews. I bought direct from the their website rather than through a 3rd party as they have a 60 day no quibble return policy and a 2 year warranty which swayed my decision in the end.

I have to say first impressions are it looks a very well made product, the materials used and the powder coated finish are seriously impressive it actually looks a lot better than i was expecting and a quick lift of the zed was quick and easy, it will get a full workout later today..... it came to £82 delivered which I think is great value if it performs as well as it looks when you consider the cost of similar products on the market... one very happy customer

I also have the Arcan alloy one from Costco, had for about 5yrs, excellent jack and fits under the Zed fine. Be aware that Costco sell two models, both look the same, but one has an all alloy frame, and one steel, they are both, I think 2,500kg, but the steel one is a HEAVY bugger to work with!
