Top 10 mods for under £100

These are two door cars, that kit has four I see. Wanna goes halves on the door pins? I'll take 2 assuming they are the correct ones?

My door mastic sound deadening stick on stuff from B&Q doesn't smell and hasn't melted.

If your doing sound deadening in the doors then stick some scraps on the underside of the crappy, rattly parcel shelf and glue some black carpet on the top side. No rattles and makes the interior quieter when the hoods up. Black carpet looks much nicer through the rear window too ! 20170410_125916.jpg20170410_135632_Richtone(HDR).jpg

Yeah, mines done too. Well worth it.

Depends where you live. There are a few members who will move your roof motor. I had mine done by Ducklakeview (Mike) who did an excellent job without breaking the bank. He is based in the North West. Another very useful member is Andy Fanshawe who will tackle most jobs. He is based near Chesterfield. I haven't been a member long but have had a huge amount of help and advice from forum members.

If it's a pre-facelift...

Sound deadening in the doors - gives them a nice solid 'thunk' when closing rather than the standard hollow 'tinny' sound

Just had a quick research - OMG what a difference! Is there any product you'd recommend? I've noticed one guy on youtube doing it with hardware shop-bought stuff but lots of people said it'll melt in the hot sun. Would like to get the proper stuff if I'm looking after a baby Zed of my own. Thanks :)
I did a full write up with a products list here http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53812

It also includes the addition of door speakers but you can ignore that bit

Good to know, thanks. Yes sure, I'll get the car first but happy to split the door pins once I have them :)

Amazing tip, thanks both. Have added that to my list. :)

I did the same for the underside of the tray at the same time when I did my rear shocks. I also put some sticky felt on the hinges where the plastic meets. Has stopped squeaking now.

Brilliant answers, and thank you for the welcome.

I'm looking at a 3.0l, not set on colour choice yet. Good shout on the gear knob.

What do you think about a boot lid spoiler? (I'm aware that might be a little over £100)

Bought the boot spoiler for 60 off a forum member. Fitted and resprayed for 100

Quick update guys. I've got the lock pins I wanted, and put sound deadening in the car door, too. Even put some sound deadening on the parcel shelf but it's still a bit rattly at higher speeds. Not sure what's causing it. Anyway, here's some photos of the lock pins:

Man you really have a thing for door pins don't you OP :P

Sweet. Did you find the old door pins tricky to remove?

The door pins are easy to remove, they're attached to a metal rod behind the door card. It just takes a sharp tug on the pin and it pops right off. I'd recommend some extra strong glue or JB Weld when attaching new ones as they can be very loose, which isn't great if you try to unlock whilst in the car and you end up pulling out the door pin instead!

No it was incredibly easy. I did it with the door panel off because I was installing sound deadening anyway. To remove the current ones all you'd have to do is take the locking pin-side panel off (and one or two clips at the top of the door panel which can be tight) and then squeeze the black plastic cap from underneath to released the cap, and then the pin itself is just pushed on (with a slight screw).

To install the ones I had I just had to glue down the cap and then push the pins on.

Yeah, why not? :) They cost £15 and make it look and feel a lot more plush. That area, just above the door handle is the place you're going to be looking at all the time as you open the door, so why not make the entrance to your Zed look a bit nicer? And for how easy and cheap it is, I can't see why you wouldn't want to do it - unless one is traditionalist and wants to keep it as stock.
