Hi all,

Looking to get a Z4 soon (E85 probably) and would like to round up a top 10 list of your favourite modifications for under £100ish each.
I'd quite like to do lots of little mods to the car to make it feel more my own. What are some of your favourites?

A few mods I have on the list so far are:
- Chrome Door locks with BMW logo
- Removing clutch delay valve
- Stubby aerial
- All weather mats

1. Replace front right tyre with non-runflat
2. Replace front left tyre with non-runflat
3. Replace rear right tyre with non-runflat
4. Replace rear left tyre with non-runflat
5. Tyre gunk
6. CDV removal
7. ZHP or Storm Motorwerks gear knob
8. Steering wheel refurb
.

1,000,000. Chrome Door locks with BMW logo

What model/colour/spec is you car? Welcome! :)

Brilliant answers, and thank you for the welcome.

I'm looking at a 3.0l, not set on colour choice yet. Good shout on the gear knob.

What do you think about a boot lid spoiler? (I'm aware that might be a little over £100)

The roof motor to boot relocation is such an important mod I can think believe I forgot to add it to my list! Thank you :)

Welcome to the forum, great first post

CDV delete,
ZHP gear knob,
roof motor relocation to boot
New tail trims
Stubby
Osram Night Breakers - headlights (if halogen)
Osram cool blue - sidelights
Hub Centric Spacers (depending on the alloys)
JVC stereo
Black gloss grills (when running black alloys)

All my other mods cost over £100

Those pipe trims look awesome! Definitely adding it to my list.

How does everyone feel about a centre console trim? I only want it to fit around the gear stick really. Something like this:

Also, is it worth getting a clear wind deflector? If so, which one would you opt for? I'm looking at this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-E85-WIND-DEFLECTOR-CLEAR-2002-2008-/201499429855?fits=Car+Make%3ABMW%7CModel%3AZ4&hash=item2eea4d4bdf:g:LoQAAOSwQaJXRDlA

centre console - Wood :o - don't do it
Clear wind deflector - think you are better off with the mesh OEM one, the solid plastic ones cause more wind buffering than they prevent.

Thank you for the feedback everyone :)

So here's what my list looks like now, please do keep your ideas coming if there's anything not already listed in the thread.

- Door lock pins
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-black-carbon-doors-lock-pins-4pcs-classic-BMW-custom-door-pins-free-ship-/192203055243?hash=item2cc031e08b:g:c-AAAOSwLnBX9zNM

- Centre console trim (not sure on colour/style)

- Exhaust tail pipe tips

- Stubby aerial

- Black grills (matte or gloss haven't decided)

- RCH+ Roof module

- Clear boot brake light

- ZHP gear knob

- CDV delete

- Move roof motor to boot

Also, if you have suggestions on your preferred place to buy any of these items, do share. I don't want to get conned with a crappy eBay purchase but don't have enough experience yet to know the difference.

As for the roof module, I'd go for a module that also lets you control the roof while driving up to 30mph. Great when driving and it suddenly starts to rain (or the sun gets out  )
There are multiple suppliers/manufacturers available that have that option. The gaptech+ module cant do that afaik.

If it's a pre-facelift...

Sound deadening in the doors - gives them a nice solid 'thunk' when closing rather than the standard hollow 'tinny' sound

I wasn't aware the Z4 could do that, but I found this thread: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16613
It seems a tad pricier than the £100 budget I started the thread with. Is it possible to do it for cheaper? Links would be helpful if you have any ideas?

I have an xcarstyle module, that lets you operate the roof until 55km/h (34mph) but the list price is indeed above £100 (especially at the current conversion  )
However xcarstyle also always puts modules on ebay in an auction, so usually people can get them for less than the €210 or so list price.
These modules are quite popular in germany and the netherlands (no problems with reading german auctions on ebay).

Here is a current auction for an xcarstyle e85/e46 roof module
http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-3er-E46-Z4-E85-1er-E88-Dachmodul-Dachfernbedienung-AIO-Modul-Mini-R52-/232480138013
I think I paid around €170 when I bought mine 6 years ago
I think the installation manual is in english (but I'd have to check that). Installation is a little bit more difficult as the module also has to have the speed input of course.

mods4cars has another module that lets you open the roof op to 40kph (25mph) but is more expensive: €249,0 (and no ebay auctions...)

Just had a quick research - OMG what a difference! Is there any product you'd recommend? I've noticed one guy on youtube doing it with hardware shop-bought stuff but lots of people said it'll melt in the hot sun. Would like to get the proper stuff if I'm looking after a baby Zed of my own. Thanks :)
