If it does sell, then I can't believe how much these cars have gone up by in the last year.... I should sell my ///M now!![]()
tomscott said:Problem with Z4Ms now they don't look as attractive as they once did… 15.5k for 70k. 4 years ago you could get a sub 40k miler Z4M coupe from a dealer for £17.5k now your lucky if you can find the same for less than £22k on a 10 year old car. They are lovely but the Z4M has its downfalls and at these inflated prices they don't make good buys I don't think. There are a lot of rough cars wanting good money. Caymans are looking good value now… Caymans had a 5k premium 4 years ago now its the other way round.
Also although nice and looks spotless, mods don't = £ The wheels and exhaust are negative points for me would much prefer OEM.
Milage doesn't always tell the story tho, it looks in very very good condition and the owner has obviously treated it extremely well. Always better to buy on condition than milage, but depends on how many miles you intend on doing. Could become a really high miler pretty quickly.
I agree with gwatson. Bills can spiral pretty quickly.
Both of the cars you mention above personally I would not go near as they both have very well documented engines made from cheese. That is why they are down at the levels they are whereas the Z4M does not. abar121 said:Made of cheese might be a bit of an exaggeration.
Mad Professor said:i dont think that 70k miles can be accurately described as being low miles

agreed but its less than average for the age
JAD said:I really like this car, because I'm a clean freak. I don't like the wheel design or exhaust, but that's easy to change. As has been said, the chap has clearly looked after it and some questions to the seller himself would be sure to put any "concerns" over servicing to rest, rather than the above speculation.
Appreciate it is all an opinion on forums and there is nothing wrong with a bit of chatter, but the level of skepticism on this one in particular is sometimes eye opening... :?

No M is worth anything if it as more than 30k on it
If the wheels are wrong its worthless
If the exhaust is wrong its worthless
If the oil was changed by someone who doesn't wear BMW approved overalls its worthless
If its not been stored in a heated garage its worthless
Common sense (for those of us that have any) dictates that 70k is nothing for a car like this. Jut have a look on M3 cutters, they have plenty of 100k+ E46 M3's going strong, and as the cars get older more and more "miley" examples will be floating about. If the cars been looked after it shouldn't be an issue.
The attitude of "I'd not buy a car with that mileage" is just moronic. Correctly looked after an 70k example should be just as good as a 30k example, in fact, the 70k example would have had a lot of service parts replaced that maybe the 30k car wouldn't.
Its sad but we seem to have an amount of snobbery displayed by the owners of Z4Ms, and its really not appropriate. While the M is nice, its not "special".

Enjoyed reading your thoughts Steve but a little unfair to imply all owners think the way you highlight
There are many different types of M owners on the forum who have varying degrees of budget & requirements from their chosen car .
There is a lot of truth in your words but also many owners on here like myself have bought the best car they could afford regardless of miles & enjoy making changes to the cars appearance no matter if it affects value or not .
The above is not M specific either , it applies across the whole range of Zs available
