A manual gearbox that has a hydro shift pack is still a manual gearbox...
I think this says it all and when I bought the porsche and had a choice it was PDK all the way because when I push the lever over and it doesnt change unless I pull paddles how's that not manual ? , its just differant from pressing a pedal and moving a stick
It's two things, a direct physical connection between gear stick and gearbox and a clutch both of which operated manually by the operator, hence the manual. Once you remove one part it is semi automatic if you remove both then it is fully automatic.
What Z4M-2006 was getting stuck on was that he saw the actual standalone gearbox as manual or automatic when in fact fundamentally it's just that, a gearbox, a mechanical method of changing torque. It is the operation of that gearbox that defines whether it is manual or automatic
