Why did white cars go from being very cool in the 80s to very uncool until about 2005 and then exploded as a colour choice by 2010- are they about to become uncool again?

I've heard various theories and Richard Hammond is stating that he made black wheels cool again.

Well, currently its cos theres a recession on. Was there a financial downturn in the 80s?

I don't think white testarossas and 911s were due to a recession... I'm not sure I understand this recession white thing

Because to have a colour was an optional extra, whereas white was free.
