I presume you ordered the same kit. I have received a template for the AP brake system that can be used to verify fitment.playalistic said:I went with both front and rear. Simpsons mentioned the front bias can cause trouble on track under big stops and it makes sense to me anyway. They definitely fit under the CSL wheels no problem.

If I look at the template there is space of only 2mm between the front brake caliper and the CSL wheels. I can just fit the metal lid from a can of soda between the caliper and the wheels. I have talked to some people and they say that the fitment with the CSL wheels is indeed okay without spacers. The space in real life between the CSL wheel and AP caliper should be +/- 3mm. Still interested to hear about your own experience.
The AP dealer i talked to said this about fitting the AP brakes at the front only
The front Z4M kit you are referring to does not shift brake balance forward a massive amount. It is primarily designed for more thermal capacity. While the rear kit provides a more perfect dynamic balance, many customers happily run the front-only system. If you find you need more bite from the rear brakes due to driving style, tire choice, damper settings, etc., there are many pad compounds available that will do just that.
Strange that this set-up does not have enough clearance and maybe need spacers in combination with the oem CSL wheels. When this kit is fitted on a genuine M3 CSL (with CSL wheels), they don't need spacers (Simpsons Motorsport says this). The guy at Thorney Motorsport also told me there is no need for spacers on a Z4M with oem CSL wheels. They also fitted in on a Z4M without spacers (http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/products/images/webDSC01135.jpg). That's something I need to know for sure (before ordering) Maybe the AP template is a little pessimistic and in real life there is 3mm clearance between the CSL wheel and the caliper. I'm curious when the kit is fitted on the playalistic's Z4M.Beedub said:franzine i just wanted to Re-iterate a point, checkout post #29 on page 2

this is by an AP racing employee that sells the kits to americanote what he says about the clearance..... a Minimum of 3mm..... ;-) i know this was bothering you so se it from the horses mouth
remember the csl front is a HIGHER offset than stock wheels, the CSL is retracted MORE than the stock front wheel with +44 as opposed to stock +42................... therefore
I was not talking about the oem 18" Z4M wheels.... The AP kit fit perfect without spacers behind the oem 18" Z4M and M3 wheel. The wheel I'm talking about is the oem BMW M164 winterwheel set-up for the M3 and Z4M .Beedub said:i dont think this clearance issue would be present with the stock 18" alloy, you'd infact have 5mm clearance. i would love to stick an 18" on my car to show you but i can't get the clearance with the larger kit :-(

Cool, I've been assured by Simpsons that they've fitted the slim caliper kit behind OE 18"s many times but a field report is worth hearing!kennef said:very very interesting thread. The AP racing kit for the Z4M will fit 100% behind the following oem wheels: 18" Z4M, 18" M3 e46, 19" e46 M3.... The fitment with the oem 19" CSL wheels is very tight... Some people say they fit without spacers, other say you need them. The real answer will probably be delivered by playalisticga41 said:kennef said:very very interesting thread. Please do, very curious to see if APs fit behind our stock wheels!

 Which AP racing BBK have you bought (CP5555 or CP5575)?? The first available 6pot AP kit for the M3 E46 is the CP5555, these will not fit without spacers on the M3 CSL and a Z4M fitted with oem CSL wheels. After some time AP racing made a new kit with a smaller caliper that would fit the M3 CSL.kennef said:I can answer you tomorrow as well. I happen to have 1 CSL front rim (8.5J ET:44, don't ask, the other 3 are on the way) which I plan to test fitment tomorrow

Thanks for the pictures. Is the rear disc the factory one?
