Soooo annoyed

I finally thought I'd found my car. It was a black coupe with imola red/anthracite interior and I had been waiting for it to arrive at the dealership so they could send me some pics. Monday I rang and the car still hadn't arrived and we discussed the possibility of putting a discount on it to secure it. So I got my deposit together and rang him back yesterday. He didn't answer so I left a message.

This lunchtime he rang back to say the car had now arrived and was being checked over. So we negotiated a price and I gave him my card number for a deposit. He said he'd have to get the price agreed with management. Rang back 20 mins later - the car had been sold 30 mins earlier. I was fuming, I'm so angry right now because I'd tried to put a deposit on the car but he hadn't answered and had been in a meeting all morning today. No-one had told him someone else was interested in the car.

I was really set on this car despite it not having sat nav. There's nothing else out there that I'm interested in right now, so disappointed. :x :| :(

Everything happens for a reason... tomorrow, a black coupe with imola red/anthracite interior AND sat nav will turn up

its easier said than done but try and chill out, a better car will come along soon, just keep lookin

Dont worrie about it mate i waited about 4 and a half months for the right one to come along. I am so glad i didnt take the first 6 i looked at :D

Cheers
C

As Tweed said I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason buddy! You will find the one (took me nearly 6 months of looking) and trust me it will be worth it

I know that's the way it it but this car had only done 7k miles (3.5k in the last 18 months) so must have been immaculate. Ah well will just have to keep waiting.

On the flip side, I'd never buy a car that had done so little mileage over such a long period. It isn't good news however well its apparently been looked after.

And a car salesman "in a meeting all morning"...what a joke. :headbang:

Same here. Wouldn't have touched that one with a bargepole. Mileage is too low for me.

As said on email Nik, chin up, plenty more out there and the right car will come up. I'm (vaguely) shopping too and cannot find the right spec anywhere either!

Also that one might come back - if it's to be financed, buyer might get turned down, it does happen, make sure you're on his call list if it does....

Out of interest what price did you get him down to in principal?

Chin up - every cloud has a silver lining and all. If they are too busy to call back a potential customer i hate to think how they would treat an existing customer with an issue/ fault.

Back in Oct i was going to buy Z4 - 17k for an 08 3.0si sport roadster, 15k miles cream interior - everything i thought i wanted - no nav or MFSW (but i didnt care for those). I was in a meeting in the morning i said i would call back with my card details - i thought its Oct no one will snap it up (even thought it was a bargain at that price)... but sadly i was wrong :(

However in Dec i found my car - (pretty much the spec you want too  but roadster with Nav) and so glad i never bought the first car i wanted... my car only had 8k miles.. and i think one of my fav toys in my car is my Nav unit (well the intravee connected to it!)

So keep on looking sure you'll find one you want.

Mike we negotiated to £21k. They wouldn't go any lower and obviously I couldn't have held out due to interest in the car. There will be more just was all ready for it. Mike I never got an email.

Why would the car doing so little mileage be a problem? It's been garaged during that time just not used that regularly.

Yes why.....?

Not sure if its the case with the Z4... but most cars generally go wrong more if they're not used.

Tend to get problems like brake calipers seizing and other similar things where because the car has been sat for long periods of time without use things tend to stiffen up or seize.

And I have to say... some of you lot are incredibly patient when it comes to buying a car... there's no way I could spend 4 months or even 2 months looking for the right car! I'd get bored and buy something different by then I reckon. Longest I've spent looking for a car is probably less than a month. I tend not to be too fussy on things like colour.... so long as it has the spec I'm after and is in good condition thats good enough for me.

Sorry but agree with Nik, means nothing. Mine was 9 months old when i bought it and had covered the grand mileage of...1,100. It had the running in service just before I picked her up....33k so far, no issues. It's the same as the common mantra more owners = bad... maybe, yeah but it could have been owned by 4 caring drivers or one moron, you just don't know. You can only judge a car on it's own individual merits IMO - condition, service history, etc

The way i see it - which may or may not be correct - but the cars like the Z4 tend to be peoples weekend toys - not used daily - hence they tend to have low milage for their age - vs something like a 3 series/ golf/ focus.

So i cant see anything wrong with an old car having low miles- they may be used weekly - but just not driven very far.

my car had a few owners and had bang on average mileage (2 year and 7 months old @ 26k miles) when I bought it, but full service history and very good condition. Its now 6 years old with 48.5k miles, so Ive don 22k ish in approaching 3.5 years... you saying you would buy my car, cos it is faultless :D

There are many on here also with mileage alot less than mine without issue.

as aquazi says - tends to be used more as a weekend car (mine included).

I see no problem with that

Cars used very little suffer far more than people realise, from things like perished rubber due to lack of use ( bushes, seals etc), to ceased components or worse, components that semi cease, but wear out quicker due to this. Then you have things like rusted brakes or bores...... Thats all a bit extreme, but lacroupade is right, cars with little use "can" be more problematice than those used more regularly
