Fair enough, good to have some clarification. However why would rubber perish faster if it's not being subject to whatever gets flicked up from the road on a daily basis?
if rubber isn't manipulated or moved about it hardens, then when it is moved it cracks... really bad news for tyres, suspension bushes and seals when a car has been laid up a long time...
many years ago i bought a "barn find"... a Lancia which had been sitting in dry storage for years... it was solid ( impressive for a lancia) and i thought "great, a quick service and on the road"... ended up with a complete brake overhall, new tyres, new suspension and a load of other bits... cost me a fortune, then 300 miles later the engine gave up.... stress as a result of it being laid up... Obv, this was far longer than anyone would lay up a Zed... and it was italian
These days i do about 50k a year, so its not worth buying a low mileage car, besides after its done a few thousand, any of the bits that need sorting have already been done. I bought my Zed at 45k, which was perfect for me, runs like a dream and the 1st owner cherished it, its immaculate...
