It's a question I've asked my self a few times. One is a object of desire the other a physical & mental pleasure. Both are separate hobbies, they just go together rather well.

Me I like my cars, but I love driving more and I don't need a special car to enjoy a special drive. The car is just the dressing that adds to the event.

Other people I know get more enjoyment from owning and pampering their physical car / cars.

I get satisfaction from seeing my car looking good and showing it off, but I'd always rather be driving it sideways out of dusty T junction, on a deserted country road. :driving:

Both is not an option.

thats a tricky question

i would not say i'm a car person but i do love my coupe, do i enjoy driving? er that would depend on where i was going, do i love cleaning my car - definately not

That's like asking do you prefer being drunk or the drink itself? It's part and parcel, the better the car, in theory the more sense of occasion for the drive - thus double whammy winner winner chicken dinner!

Fun can be had in anything, but certain cars suit certain driving experiences!

The car is the tool, driving is the goal.

It gets washed to look respectable so a quick pre-wash & two bucket wash in 30min or less. I don't have the motivation for all this detailing stuff.

I am a bit like Taz, Im not particularly a car person, more into bikes, but any car I have owned has been looked after and kept clean and polished.
Love driving but to get the best out of it the car must be clean. Hate driving a dirty car.

I think it depends heavily on the car. I would say overall, I enjoy both in equal measures at certain times.

Driving my old coupe was a completely different experience to doing 35k miles in my diesel company car.

You're not like Taz at all - he couldn't get on a bike if he tried, they don't make them small enough

Hmm, both:

I've always liked cars in general, car technology from all makes and car stats/facts... I think coming from the top trump generation helps.

I also like driving anywhere and anything, any excuse even pint of milk or crispy creme runs. I like driving on holidays and even the daily commute is ok. I sometimes think being a minicab driver would be fun.

So driving my zed really is a treat, the only thing better than that is on a motorbike but I don't have one anymore :driving:

No I have to drive it - it could look brilliant but if it drove like sh&t it would have to go!

Cars for me.

I could look at / read about cars all day but get bored driving after a few hours especially on the roads where I live with all the plodders and idiots.

Got to be driving!

Don't get me wrong,It's better when the car gives you a sense of occasion when driving it, but if I just wanted something nice to look at I could buy a piece of art.

I used to have a Cobra V8,which was an amazing feeling to drive and the sound was something else which just made me smile, but it didn't get used enough due to it being open topped and the northern weather so it had to go. It's no use having something you can't / don't use and it just sits there looking pretty..

Today I got up 30mins early to take a long route to work, just for the pleasure of driving and I felt like a kid going to bed last night knowing I was going to use the Car in morning. (Normally commute in the daily runner)

For me the two cannot be seperated, if you have or see a great car you want to drive it but where is the fun in driving a crap car?

Now this is what I mean. Top man

Back when we had longer lunch hours in the yard. I sometimes used to go for a drive on the moor, then back to work. Had a Primera at the time, just loved the drive. :driving:

Interesting question and harder than I thought to answer.

Has to be cars for me - if I didn't like cars as much, I would never be able to justify not using mine as often as I would like to, and I also wouldn't get as much satisfaction from just looking at it, 6 days of the week.

Did think difficult but actually after a crap day at work if you can call 5 hours a day? I couldn't wait to just take my car and go for a blast. Headed out of town, back end was a bit tail happy leaving where I live but got out into the countryside, still light and was so relaxed when I reached my destination.

Love looking at cars but love to drive them much, much more.
