[ref]jock156[/ref] perhaps you could start a separate thread specifically for this group buy, drafting a list for the roof, bonnet, or both? I'm tempted by the Geoff Steel roof, but hearing this from [ref]Beedub[/ref] does make me reconsider. Also, I wonder if it's possible for them to leave the holes for the washer jets out; looks much cleaner and an alternative solution fitted underneath the trailing edge of the bonnet would be easy enough to do. Need this on my green machine :D

I'm worried most still about the edges and corners, and how they compare to the fit of the original item. Also, I've known the fit and finish of the Skyer aero's to be less than ideal in a few cases now, so I'm still on the fence slightly... :? Any updates you can provide on this would be much appreciated Beedub!

Hi barty, really appreciate your comments. Just so everyone knows , these are direct sales with skyer, im literally just the middle man to get them here in the UK and in a central location. i haven't heard about the fitment issues with the side skirts but i have to say, it doesn't surprise me with aftermarket pieces. R.E the bonnet / Roof fitment, the owners are likely watching this thread and will chime in , in due course. i REALLY look forward to seeing how this materialises... IF the parts are solid fitment and the owners are happy awesome, if they are not, i wont do this again, but in this case i was asked to help make this happen and i have done. So far communication has been excellent and the owners seem happy. ill ask them to post in here and give their side and feedback. The parts will be with their owners by this weekend

Can you expand and the issues experienced R.E the side skirts barty?

Thanks for the extensive reply [ref]Beedub[/ref]. That curiosity goes for you and me both, as I really do like the first impressions so far. Especially curious to see the close-ups on panel gaps and corner alignment in due course. Naturally, being an aftermarket product, there's always a modicum of fettling and finishing involved.

Regarding the side skirts, I haven't personally had issues as I've opted for a set of originals. That said, myself and a number of fellow Dutch E85/86 owners have looked into buying a number of Skyer skirts. When I reached out to our American counterparts, I was presented with a number of pictures where the mounting points simply didn't allow the skirts to ever sit flush with the shell. There was a half-inch gap between the main body and the skirt itself; for a product that claims to be fully compatible with the OEM mounts, not good.

That being said, other Skyer products I've seen up close really do look the part. A mate with an E86 has their ducktail spoiler and it looks absolutely sensational, a testament to their quality. Hard to call this one then based off of what I've seen, so I'll be following this with interest!

As an aside: I've looked into shipping Skyer products like the skirts to the Netherlands, but was refused the option point blank. So any way to get them to this side of the pond is very appealing. Getting the goods from the UK to the mainland is fairly trivial by comparison.

Owners of the parts listed please pop in and give feedback when you've fitted the bonnets / roofs.

parts are now in the hands of the owners!!! The vented hood will be test fitted by end of next week.

Good stuff! & of course plenty of photos

Cant wait myself, im hoping we get some updates as soon as he gets home on his initial thoughts, whats good whats bad, everything............

Dave , over to you........

Hi you lot ,
Just got back from a little 6hr round trip to collect the hoods and roof .
Finally got to meet Byron , what a properly nice guy .
Have had the roof panel out to have a proper look. It's leaps and bounds ahead of the quality of the geoff steel one that I currently have fitted on my car . Much better finish on edges and a much more uniform lay of the carbon itself. Also has pre threaded bolt holes on the corners , which the GS hasn't. Can't fault it really.
Don't really want to drag the big hood boxes out of the van on my own and risk damaging anything. Had a brief look with Byron and so far it looks like a quality product , well finished around vents and edges , Will be in contact with my paint man tommorow to arrange fitting of the hood. As soon as its on (hopefully next week ) I'll get plenty of pics , so you lot can see what the finish and more importantly fitment is like.

Will be dropping the non vented hood to its owners bodyshop this week also , so hopefully we'll have an update and some pics from him soon aswell

Excellent to see the owner post here.

the carbon roof which was pretty much perfect cosmetically bar needing some polishing work to the clear and final coverage with PPF which will offer 99 percentage uv rejection.

Super excited and slightly Nervous for the test fit.

Well done organising it all everyone  What's the price of a roof landed at Byrons then? I guess it depends a bit on quantity of orders on the box? I've been looking at the GSR one for ages but never pulled the trigger. They're £600ish I think? Can you share images of the issues of fitment with these? Was it just bonded, or did you do something with the bolts?
Thanks

The roofs are advertised currently at 997 dollars ,
Think I got mine about 100 dollars cheaper in a sale .shipping was 500 dollars including all import duties and taxes . I say dollars because that's what you'll be paying in online at what ever the conversion rate is .

Pallet shipping was about £1400 and was just split between the items equally.
We only had three items on our pallet so quite expensive .
Obviously the more on the pallet the cheaper the shipping cost .
The GS roof fitment was fine . It was more the quality of the roof itself. Far too many imperfection in the lay of the weave . I made the mistake of having it re sanded and re cleared . Which emphasized the faults from certain angles in certain lights . More track car less show car . I just had mine bonded in like you would with a windscreen . Will be coming out in the spring for this one to go in ,in its place
SGRG has had 2 GS ones sent back by the body shop that fitted mine .

Thanks. I think that's probably a bit rich for me as I'm not overly fussed about the looks.
I'm sure the bonding is fine on it's own, it's how the csl was done iirc.

To be fair the GS fitment is spot on ,and just bonding them in is fine . Adding extra layers of clear coat to add depth and try and make it look a bit more premium just seems to highlight the faults.
I think for the price there good for what they are . If just fitted as they come maybe ppf'd they are OK.

Though it’s Christmas and by no means do I want to rush people, but I have to ask (because the curiosity is gnawing at me!): any updates on the bonnets and/or roof, possibly any pics? 8)

Hi guys . Merry Christmas, hope everyone's having a nice break .
No real update at the mo sorry. Both hoods are at there respective bodyshops . Was hoping to get mine on before Christmas, but they were too busy . May be going on this week if they get a slot , if not it'll be straight after new year. My roof won't be going on until the spring , when I'll be having a few other bits done at the same time . Waiting to hear back from the non vented guy to see how he got on . Will let you know as soon as I have any news
