It comes dry and you have the choice of oiling it or not. Oil is only recommended for off road or dusty/sandy countries.Shooter said:Is the filter an oiled type or a dry type ?

Now it's dark, wet, and I'm tired after a 5 hour/210 mile drive from London - mainly due to a couple of overturned lorries, flattened Porsche and a Range Rover that looked like it had covered 200m on it's driver's side around Gaydon/Warwick on the M40 this morning![]()
I'm not sure if I'll be able to detect a small change in throttle response as it'll likely be less than the change due to weather conditions/temperature.ga41 said:I'm mostly interested in how it affect the throttle response. There's plenty of videos of the AFE online which i'm pretty sure it'll sound the same.
mmm-five said:If I haven't got all the parts (i.e. correct number of nuts), then I'm not going to fit it anyway - hence the call out for others on here who've received one - as I'd be leaving the MAF/filter connection loose.
Although it doesn't mean I can't do a trial fit to see how quickly I can swap them out for before & after soundclips - bonnet/front numberplate mounted I think (or maybe driveby) as otherwise the exhaust might drown out the intake.

I think I know how it all goes together, with the intake trumpet on one side of the filter housing, the MAF holder on the other side and the 4 bolts going through the 4 holes.pilchardthecat said:I bet you have and you havent worked out how it goes togetheri made the same mistake
You should have 1 short bolt, 3 medium and 1 long, plus 2 nuts
I will wait until you have tried yours until i post anything else

Had another look, and the MAF housing are all threaded, so where do the bolts go?pilchardthecat said:the short bolt is for the bracket, the other 4 for the trumpet/maf piece, of which the long one is at the bottom on the right side as you stand facing the front if the car.
Rough idle? Does the problem go away if you re-fit the old housing?pilchardthecat said:I am very interested to hear how you get on. my car was not happy at all.
Thanks for that.mmm-five said:84mm on air filter side
