Scottish meet - 7/8th August 2010 - Skye!

Hi all

Still giving this some serious consideration and assume there's room for two more - myself and Mrs jaxZ4 ! Does the hotel still have availability ?

The more the merrier!

Not sure on hotel availability - contact details are in the first post. If not, there's quite a few B&Bs in the area too (obviously) but I've stayed at one approx 3miles from the Sligachan hotel before - let me know if anyone wants me to look out the link.

Would be good if you can make it Craig.

* EDIT: You'll come in handy as a translator for us "southerners" anyway! :)
Yeah, but Craig's location is Ayrshire which possibly means we'll need another translator between him and us central belt folk .

My better half and I could offer translation service for a small fee :D

We currently live in Dumfries & Galloway, she is from Fife and I'm from Teeside, but have lived in Surrey, Hampshire, Leicestershire and Suffolk so we can cover most of the country between us

Had great fun at the weekend teaching our friends kids who came up from Surrey 'I dinna ken' and the 'Coo's are ootside' etc, much to their Mum's dispair.

I'm going to have to cancel....Too far of a drive, plus that Friday we have a Combat Dining Inn I will be attending and I will be getting proper pissed.

Ally,i am a possible for this at the minute,as i am still recovering from my knee op(about 10days ago)
will need to leave it to last minute to decide tho,as i am not able to drive yet(knee v v weak),so if i can,i mt be able to attend on the saturday, but will drive home again late sat night.
will let u know asap, cheers

Craig,
If you need a lift or want to passenger for a day to save the knee - the offer is there, we'll have to drive past your place on the way up there anyway, so it's no trouble :)

Cheers John,
will let u know as early as i possibly can/as my knee's healing process seems to be taking forever.

2weeks now,and i still can't drive (aaargh!!),or take my beagle a walk (much to his dislike/inability to understand why not, lol. he has to make do with my dad taking him for now!),
and i can't (comfortably) walk too far or sit for too long.
I am hoping it will be vastly improved by the skye meet
(plus my works expecting me back in 2 weeks!!).

thanks for the offer,John,will keep u posted,cheers.
(its a bit of a detour for u though/no?). Who u travelling up with,mate ??

Fingers crossed there's still a fair bit of time - rest up and see how it goes!

There's no such thing as a detour when you're driving a Z4, just some new roads to play on :)

u just travelling up on your own/or is pawn and sk driving up with u?

I don't think Sk93's coming to this one, Pawn's going to be driving up at the same sort of time so I think there's plans to convoy up - nothing fixed yet though :)

It's starting to look more and more like I will be there.

Just got confirmation of my travel plans, I'm off to Naples tomorrow but should be back on the 6th, I'll arrive home about 11pm, then up again at 6ish and on the road by 7 to meet you guys a Stirling Services, hopefully on time.

I'll probably have the dirtiest car there as I've no time to clean it properly and it's about to spend the next 2 weeks parked up.

Cheers for the PM Richard, glad you're able to make it :)

I've updated the list, think it's correct but please let me know if I've ballsed it up. Utterly knackered after what feels like a long weekend but in reality hasn't exactly been hard work! Riding the world cup downhill MTB track at Fort William next weekend, just hoping I stay in one piece for this trip...

I wasn't sure if you're a definate or not? I've stuck you on the confirmed list - not dropping any hints ;) ) but let me know if I've jumped the gun...

Ally

Really Looking forward to this now, It will be the first chance I get to give the car a good run with the new springs and Bushes.. :)

Was talking to a mate who was in Skye last weekend, Apparently the Midges are showing even less mercy than they normally do which is zero.

No problem Ally - we're still a "highly probable" and will be able to confirm Wednesday - hotel did have space a day or 2 ago so hopefully still will - not against camping as such but would need more stuff and no time to buy and practice - so will take the soft otpion - this time - looking forward to taking some good pics but looks like some of you lot are a bit pro....some chat needed re mountain biking too methinks.....

Hopefully meet you all at Stirling Services....9am Saturday

OK - we're a definite 2 for Skye and hotel is booked. Looking forward to meeting up.

Hotel? Wusses

(although I won't be saying that as I'm packing up a sodden tent into the back of a wet Z4 on the Sunday morning )

Folks, expect a PM from me soon - I'll try and sort out the final route info and details over the weekend :)

Good man, looking forward to this - been out buying extra sun lotion! (first time in Scotland)

Siftah, catch up next week about plans for Friday - I haven't a clue which way I'm going... be good if we can get up in time to meet up with Ally in the evening.

:driving:

Thanks folks, got PM's with email addresses and mobile numbers from:
Siftah
PawnSacrifice
JimmyPop
jaxZ4
Nosa
RichardG

I'll send out an email next week just confirming the details next week - most of the info is in the first post anyway (well, the important stuff which is the meeting place/time at least).

I should be around Friday night too for anyone in the area, but we can sort that out via PM/email.

Cheers
Ally

North

And the sad thing is that that's completely true - so few roads and such small distances up here that if you head north from England you'll always come within 25 miles of Stirling no matter what route you were to take north :D
