Scottish meet - 7/8th August 2010 - Skye!

Siftah, excellent news mate  If you're doing the Friday up / Monday back as well would be cool to meet up for the journey :driving:

Yeah, definitely!

If you want to pull up a sofa and break the journey up you're more than welcome too - the traffic shouldn't be too bad on a Friday once we clear Preston either, I used to do Manchester to Glasgow quite regular on a Friday, leaving Manchester around 4pm and it usually took us no more than about 3.5 hours or so. Often less, especially if my ex drove :driving:

there's the hotel for breakfast although we might just fire up another BBQ and stick the bacon, black pudding and square sausage on

sounds nice, but no burnt offerings for those of us stayin at the hotel, Quite looking forward to sitting down to eat my full scottish with fresh orange juice and a piping hot pot of coffee whilst looking out across the campsite watching you all shiver away whilst trying to spark up a BBQ :D

BBQ's are always easy to light - it just requires a differing amount of "lighter fuel" depending on the weather conditions... :fuelfire:

JimmyPop, that sucks! Given their apparent lack of organisation, would they notice if you weren't there?

I like to think I am a vital cog in the machine that is NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. In reality, they probably won't realise I'm not there until they are looking for someone to blame/shout at! :rtfm:

Ahh I see you take the flame thrower approach. Never fails

I once (with a little help from my little friend, the bottle of lighter fluid) accidentally managed to set fire to one of the barbecue areas in Mugdock. I've not been back...

. My mate once set fire to another mate's gas BBQ, he was about to pull the gas pipe off with the gas flow still ON until I stopped him...

PawnSacrifice/Siftah - if you're going to be around on the Friday night up here at a loose end then let me know. I'm not sure I'll be free, but if I am then I may join you for beer or car photos or something.

This is a good number of cars/people so far, just hope this meet lives up to the hype :)

It had better do, seeing as I'm already looking forward to the photos - but don't look like you're having too much fun - as I wouldn't want to feel like I'm missing out as I'm driving through Norfolk with my family in-tow. :)

A11y as soon as I know something you will be the first to know, well maybe the second after SWMBO, work is now talking about a quick contract in North Africa somewhere while we wait for the Brasilian red tape to be sorted out.

I really must find a proper job :D , but I quite like only working 8 - 9 month's of the year  .

Would probably Join you for that But I will probably be Knee deep in Microfibre cloths Wax and stuff getting the car all ready for Saturday. you are of course welcome to pop along and Give your Zeds a wash and wax if you want, I am about 30 minutes drive from the Meeting place at Stirling services.

I'm sure it will live up to the hype ally, any drive upto Skye is a good one given the roads and scenery, I will probably be asking Mrs Nosa to do a bit of the driving so I can hang out the car with camera in Hand.

Nosa, Just noticed where you are from. Spent many a good evening, many years ago, in pubs and clubs in Dunfermline when stationed in Rosyth (RN). Hope the 'Statute of Limitations' applies to Scotland if so may visit again one day.....

Were you kicking around the dockyard Around the 80s, I am also Ex RN.

Right, still not had any confirmation of my rota but had a bit more information which suggests to me I'll be off this weekend - put my name down as a yes Ally! :driving:

The better half may not be coming - her friend is coming back from Australia and I think they may have organised a work reunion for that night. If she doesn't, I've got a mate who'd probably like to come along for the banter in her place. He has a 350Z so may want to bring that (I'll try and persuade him to come as my passenger!)

I would like to be at this meet, but am at a wedding the weekend in question!!
:driving: So want to see what I've been told is a beautiful place!!

from a "southerner", Skye really is an exceptionally beautiful place and well worth the visit!
I go here or Kyle of Lochalsh (the mainland side of the Skye bridge) around once every year!

Craig,
If you need a lift or want to passenger for a day to save the knee - the offer is there, we'll have to drive past your place on the way up there anyway, so it's no trouble :)

* EDIT: You'll come in handy as a translator for us "southerners" anyway! :)

Would be good if you can make it Craig.

Yeah, but Craig's location is Ayrshire which possibly means we'll need another translator between him and us central belt folk .
