Hi, we have just bought a 53 plate 3.0i z4 (52 chassis number) is it possible to get it programmed to drop the roof using the key fob or is it too old? if it is possible can anyone reccomend a good independent who can do it in the coventry area? thanks

hello :D

definately possible, either by independent coding or by third party modules - reinhold or gapTech.

it is possible as i had it coded on my 2003 3.0i. i used an indy in surrey to do mine - probably a bit far to travel.

if you get it coded i would recommend the gaptech RCH+ module (search the forum) as without this you'll have to keep your finger on the button until the hood has fully travelled and stay within range, which slightly defeats the object. with the RCH+ once it starts you can walk away and leave it to sort its self out. standing there waiting for it to finish on the standard set up kinda ruins the look!

great news :D i thought it would be too old to do it, just need to find someone in Coventry area to do it now....not going near the local dealership

On my 53 plate 3 series holding the open button down continuosly dropped the roof, not a one touch option, does the zed not do the same thing? Sorry if i have misread OP perhaps you meant a one touch operation.
Only discovered this about 3 months before i changed to a new 56 plate at the time and found out the new one would do it, then realised the old one did as well

sorry roofless yes thats what i mean, so long as i can open on the key fob i will be happy :D don't mind holding the button down at all. our local dealership are crap and after they put grandad tyres on the 5 series we have i won't go near them!

If you don't want to fit the Gaptech ir similar module (buy far the best way of doing it, from someone who has tried both methods) then give Pete at autotech a call, he's done quite a few on here including mine, and he'll also free up other options that you didn't know you had all for about £25 IIRC.
Have a search on here cj10 has published a list a few times of all the available options that the Z can be coded for.

Yeah Pete at autotech in Telford also did mine - he will run through the options with you and activate as required.

thanks everyone, have emailed pete and will hopefully get down there in the next couple of weeks :D
