No they don't, long time ago, I got married, moved to a different town and had children, a German Shepherd and now a Z4. My life is complete

Yes I see now you said your first house thought it was the one you are in now  :)

I’ve just re opened this post

Yes I am home after hospital and time in a care home -which was bloody awful!

I’m still struggling around the house with a walker frame and a lot of furniture surfing.
You would say I’m a bit of a basket case. I suspect it’s going to be a long uphill struggle and at times I wonder if ever?

I get weekly specific physio but it is difficult as my wife has just been taken to hospital so I’m also trying to look after myself - neighbours have been very helpful - however all my “things “ need to be within arm’s reach so my seating area looks like a tramps squat!

If my condition was marked out of 10 i would say I’m a reasonable 3

The car remains in the garage, I sincerely hope I see it taxed again with me driving it in spring 2025

Never mind, I’m still vertical and I’m trying to retain a positive attitude!

Ps - The handrail is called a Norfolk Rail - it seems to do the job - without it I would be scuppered!

Sorry to hear about your wife Ron and hope she makes a quick recovery . I know exactly what you mean by furniture walking/surfing and needing everything close to hand . You will get there its just a matter of time . The main thing is making sure you don`t sit down for too long and just keep yourself mobile as much as possible. Easier said than done I know but needs must

It’s all happened at once !
Normally would be looking after her and vice versa

Once I’ve done breakfast sorted things I’m shattered. Of course I can’t visit her as I don’t have a wheelchair yet!

At least you are now moving about, that’s much better than it was, so moving in the right direction towards recovery

I have to keep reminding myself that this situation is currently life limiting and not life threatening!
So get a grip!!!!

I had care twice a day- they arrived between 0700/ 1045 And 1700/220 they had to be show all home appliances so were like having chocolate fire guards - they weren’t free either!

You are going through a hard time especially with your wife being in hospital . Carers timekeeping has been horrendous for years now unfortunately but you just have to remember its not there fault . I take it you can contact your wife by mobile or direct to ward .

Oh - we will get there.
My cup is half full most of the time!

Carers!
Most of them ard very very caring people - I saw one of their payslips - £11.61p / ht
I was paying much more than that !

Currently horizontal!
I will just have to keep up the physio and await the outcome of my tests at the spinal injuries clinic next month

That offer is very much and genuinely appreciated.

Thinking of you Ron. I would be worse than you, in your situation. Nothing worse than relying on others when you (obviously) never have before.

And the 'care sector employees' deserve a lot more pay for what they do. It's scandalous. :x

Update:-
I Ive been promoted - the physio has let me loose with a set of arm crutches!

The 35is is remains locked away in the garage now with an expired mot - but my medical records will verify the reason should when the time comes.

Progress is slow - but it is progress!
I have an appointment at the spinal unit next week so they will give me a more detailed prognosis.

My focus/aim is to be able to drive again.
Day to day progress is imperceptible but when I consider my circumstances immediately post accident I’m not doing so bad - my cup is half full!
