Just a word of advice. We're on a public forum discussing something that could result in a criminal prosecution. Despite emotions running high I'd strongly advise against speculation against anyone as you might open yourself up to a court case yourselves or worse still, mess up the prosecution of the real villains. Also, put yourself in the position of the garage owners. If you came back from a nice Holiday and read that when you were totally innocent you'd be pissed off.

Count to 100, breathe and let the police do their job. If that bumper turns up for sale you'll probably have found your villain, or at least a strong link.

Now where do I pledge my tenner....

Jeez that's proper disheartening :(
Sounds very suspicious, I just hope it's not the guy working on it because that would be a really stupid thing to do. For that reason I doubt it was.

Hope you get to the bottom of it

So sorry to hear about your misfortune Brad. Project Marmite is not my cup of tea but it was making fascinating reading. I really hope you can pick things up from here and get it finished. I've pledged my tenner. Let's hope the police find the culprits.

Stick with it mate.

Spent 5 minutes trying to type a worthy response. There isn't one, I'm gutted for you. I hope you take strength from the kind words and support from forum members to continue this build.

Awful to hear mate.

I can sort of relate, heard a bar being dropped outside and went to find my car sitting on tree logs and all 4 wheels in a pile by the car...I caught the w*nker taking them off and he ran

lucky I still had the wheels.

It's sickening that there are people low enough out there to do such a thing.

Hopefully the build gets back on its feet and you don't lose the heart and soul to finish this off! I seriously love the direction you're aspiring to!

cant believe id never seen this thread before! just spent 10 minutes reading it completely

Loving the effort you have been putting into this car. Its something id love to attempt, but defiantly not have the balls to do, unfortunately the front bumper would not be for me though :P

Totally gutted about the break in too! I really hope something gets sorted :( im soo cautious about anything to do with my car and where it plus my tools and spares are kept. you cant trust anyone these days!!!

Really hope you get the motivation to get the car sorted again, ill be keeping an eye on this thread from now on :D

I really don't know what to say guys... This is all so completely overwhelming... I honestly can't comprehend the amount of support and sheer good nature of each and every single one of you. For every turd in this world the actions you have all taken and the words you have all spoken have truly convinced me that there really are good people in this world and for that I am truly thankful.

I spent all morning in the local Police office talking with PC McKenna who had attended the original call out for the break in. He was reluctant to reveal any forensic findings to me as I was not the original person who reported it and I am unfortunately a 3rd party victim.

I raised my concerns with him about the possibility of it being an inside job and he seemed to sympathise with me, however he did reveal to me that this is the 3rd garage break in to happen in 2 week within a 15mile radius and similar items have been stolen in each robbery, alloys, hydrolic jacks, paint spray guns, ECU decoding machines... etc. I have now sent off a complete list of items stolen along with images and approximate prices for their reference and he is due to perform a follow up visit to the Garage on monday.

After talking with Gary (my friend and bodywork guy) he has infact found out that the forensic team has been able to find both fingerprints AND multiple foot prints which they have filed and should be able to make some positive links to if they have previously been detained. Unfortunately though he gave me the unfortunate news that after finaly being able to reach the owner from THAILAND!! there is NO INSURANCE for the garage, Gary has been sub letting the work space for a few months now and wasn't aware that the owner had not taken out insurance on the commercial property, he didn't know and has never asked none of us knew this before we began this build and it now seems that I am really up s**t creek. Ultimately the security of the property is down to the owner and he should be held accountable for the damages but with no insurance to cover the losses, I really don't know what to do other than taking it to small claims court. I have informed the police of this matter and they have filled a seperate case to handle the legal issues of allowing products and services to be conducted without the proper insurance policies in place, not even public liability! :headbang:

I will endevour to keep you all informed about what is occuring as it helps a lot to talk to you lot about this, but I believe that by this time all of the parts to my car that were taken are well and truly gone, probably in a sprinter van haflway up the country being flogged for pennies to anyone who wants them...

Is there no way of claiming from your own car insurance policy? Suppose it could be a minefield if you hadn't yet declared the new mods in progress so they'll probably leave you in the lurch, but perhaps an avenue worth exploring.

I think with the donations racking up already we should start sending payments while we have momentum, I'm personally happy to send my donation whenever as small claims court could take a while.

It might well be a good idea to start taking the donations now, but someone has raised the point that, if Brad gives out his PayPal account details, it will reveal his address to anyone who gives money that way - this could, potentially, reveal the location of another 'opportunity' to the low-life scum that turned him over - we just need to give a little thought about how to avoid this potential problem

Donations thread is rapidly approaching £500 so, if Brad's initial estimate of £1500 is accurate, we're a third of the way there people so keep the pledges coming - personally I hate Marmite but I hate thieving low-life barstewards even more
